Pours a thick deep black. Thin golden head. Aroma gives off a slight hint of the vanilla. Flavor is about as awesome as anything... chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roasty note, it just keep going! and it is very very smooth.

A - pours thick rich coffee black with low chocolate head that dissipates quickly. A - aromas of vanilla bean and bourbon up front. Hints of oak, molasses, caramelized sugar, brown sugar. M - strong bodied complex fantastic barrel aged stout. Syrupy sweet, but not overly so. Light alcohol warming, oaky dark sugars and vanilla ending. Coffee ice cream ends. T - bourbon and vanilla on the nose. Oaky, caramelized sugar, molasses, roasted malts, toffee on the palete. Lingering alcohol warmed ending. Very creamy coffee ice cream ending. Caramel, toffee, molasses, vanila and oak to finish. O - another strong showing from goose island. I love the BCS’s 8+

2010 Vintage Served in a 10 oz. glass @ the Beer Bistro, Chicago IL
Ar: Not surprisingly a strong bourbon aroma mixed with vanilla and oak. Light notes of toffee and caramel are present as well.
Ap: Pours jet black with a half finger beige head that dissipates quickly to form a small foam ring that borders the glass.
T: Bourbon initially transitioning almost immediately and smoothly to vanilla oaky maltiness finishing with a wave of bourbon warmth.
P: Silky syrup that coats the mouth with little carbonation present. The warmth from the abundant alchohol is ever-present.
O: Really fantastic. A true treat and a must-try for any fan of barrel-aged imperial stouts The sweetness of this variety of BCBS will most likely limit the amount one can have in a single sitting (not to mention the 13% abv).
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 KickInChalice (772) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 29, 2012
From notes. First reviewed 12/28/2010. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip.
It pours a very dark and viscous black imperial stout oozes out of the bottle. Completely pitch black with a brown head that fades to a ring pretty quickly.
Smell: Bourbon, oak, and vanilla dominate. A little bit of general booziness, some coffee, dark chocolate, black licorice, and roasted malt. The vanilla from the bourbon seems to remain and amplify the added vanilla beans, resulting in a smoother, sweeter aroma than regular bourbon county stout.
Each sip starts out with vanilla and bourbon. Some molasses, more bourbon, and dark malts. Just an absolute avalanche of flavor coming down. Minor spice notes, a little bit of coffee, and some earthy hops to finish it out. The finish is sticky sweet malt wrapped in vanilla.
The mouthfeel is creamy, smooth, and it has a very full body. Seriously, the body of these beers is just huge. A little bit sticky with medium carbonation that actually gets crushed by the rest of the body.
As with the rest of the series, this is a sipper. I don’t happen to like this as much as the Coffee, but it is still very good.

Vintage 2010 bottle from Høkeren, Copenhagen, shared at home. Black with a clear mahogany edge and no head. Complex and developing aroma. Initially vanillaand dried dark fruits and then chocolate, raisin and sweet liquorice. Full bodied and oily with rich flavors. Sweet roasted notes, dried dark fruits. Roasted raisins, bourbon and sweet liquorice. Nice and fitting alco warmth. This was a real pleasure to drink.

Thanks after4ever! Big bourbon vanilla nose, solid, clean, full of wood and peat. Jet black with a mocha ring of a head. Strong boozy tannic oak. Very rich, very dark, boozy and sharp and brash. Molasses double chocolate brownie. Incredibly sweet, slick and offensive. Sharp boozy finish offers a balance. Nearly amazing but isn’t a gentle sipper.

On tap at Paddy Longs, black pour with almost no head. Bourbon, oak, and vanilla and chocolate aromas. The taste is extremely similar to regular BCBS, but a bit sweeter. More vanilla on the finish. Glad I got to try this on tap, look forward to opening my bottle soon.
