22oz bottle pours an oily, opaque black with a thin, tan head. Big vanilla nose, coffee, chocolate, booze, sweet. Flavor has a ton of vanilla, coffee, brown sugar. Full bodied, sweet vanilla finish. WAY to much vanilla.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black color, with a small fastly dissapating tan head. Aroma is of bourbon, oak, roasted malt, coffee, slight amount of vanilla, alcohol and some liqourice. The flavor is really big and complex with roasted malt, coffee, liqourice dark fruits, bourbon, bourbon soaked raisins, vanilla, booze, roasted malt and some faint dark chocolate. The body is full with a creamy mouthfeel. Overall a really big and complex brew, really a treat. Age this for 1 year+ and it will probably become even better.

Sampled at Nashville Beer Summit 1.22.11 - Pour is not surprisingly very dark and thick. Great nose of port, dark fruit, vanilla, butter, butterscotch, bourbon, whiskey, and oak. More notes of chocolate and coffee upon tasting. Mocha. Malt. Great finish. Alcohol is well hidden for such a giant beer. Good integration of flavors despite the heavy handedness of the bourbon barrel. Complex as can be. Wonderful beer. Nice treat.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 bottled on 11/05/10 poured a black in color with little head and a somewhat still look. aroma has bourbon, more of a malted body than the other versions, woody vanilla, and some roast. mouth feel is thick but the carbonation could be a bit more. flavor has some initial heated bourbon and the vanilla is more on the heavy barrel side than the fresh sprigs but it does smooth things out a bit. the malted side stands out more for me here than in other versions and there is lots of molasses flavor and texture. it is the the least crushing of the versions so far and considering the alcohol it is not overly boozy. overall I was hoping for more of a raw vanilla thing and it comes off as a heavy barrel side instead, however the beer is smooth.

Pours very dark brown with a small dark tan head. The aroma has very roasty malt, smooth bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, cream, oak and some heat. Medium / full body that’s smooth and rich with fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts with dark roasty malt that’s offset by sweetness and vanilla, smooth bourbon, chocolate and warming alcohol. The finish has some dark fruit and earthy hops. There is a lingering taste of roast, vanilla and warmth. Really nice impy stout.

The beer pours dark soy sauce black with a very small head. The aroma is vanilla and booze, very nice. The body is lightly carbonated with big flavors of the vanilla, hot booze, and roasted dark malts combined very nicely together. It is so smooth for an ABV of 13, this beer is amazing.

I can’t believe things can get better! Thanks again Dave! Rich chocolate carmel bourbon nose. Very full and smooth mouthfeel. Whiskey vanilla well balanced creamy taste. Not too sweet, some roasty bitterness at the finish. Alcohol shows up, to my pleasure. this beer is everything and then some. the vanilla really adds the final complexity to a really great beer. The bourbon does not over power the rest of the flovors

(22oz bottle courtesy of Alpar!). Pours black with khaki head. Lots of bourbon, caramel and some vanilla. Taste is sweet with lots of bourbon, but not overwhelming, and a little alcohol bite on the end. The alcohol is noticeable in the warmth that you feel in the throat and chest. Full bodied with creamy, slick texture. Finish is smooth and the vanilla becomes more noticeable. Awesome!

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Black colour, beige head. Pours oily and viscous. Aroma is roasted malts, cocoa, lots of vanilla. Flavour is sweet malts, lots of vanilla, roastiness, molasses. Great aroma, but the flavour is a bit too sweet and too heavy on the vanilla, otherwise superb drinkable.
