Oily black, no head. Aroma is full of vanilla, chocolate, bourbon. Flavor is oily bourbon and toasted mashmallow with some vanilla in the finish. Great stuff.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Pours a thicker black with a brown head of foam. The aroma has subdued vanilla, bourbon, toffee, fudge, cake. The taste is sweet bourbon, vanilla, chocolate. Great stuff! Thick mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This beer is great, and hopefully the new vanilla rye turns into this in a couple years.

Bottle from Dale, thanks! Pours black with a minimal brown head, no retention at all. Aroma has bourbon, dark chocolate, liquorice and slight alcohol. Taste is bourbon heavy with dark chocolate, cherry liquor praline, sweetness (no distinct vanilla), dark tobacco, slight alcohol heat. Full body, soft carbonation, silky smooth. Short chocolate bitter after taste with slight heat.
Another "legendary" Bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout , very well balanced but didnít blow me away. Still, glad to have had it.

bottle recieved in a trade. thanks a lot to my man jeff for helping me land this big want together with the rare!! drank it at the same day together with my friend. cellarad in perfect conditions ever since. poured your regular bourbon county black with no head. instant hit of sweet vanilla! I have no idea why people are saying "the vanilla has faded" or those bottles werenít cellarad properly. any way... dark chocolate, oak, chocolate covered raisins, sweet complex vanilla, bourbon, (more of a smooth bourbon smell as rare) sweet taste, with a lot of vanilla sweetness and bourbon, no spicy alcoholic mouthfeel. sweet complex bourbon, prunes, some kind of creme brule, vanilla cream, just one hell of a silky smooth mouthfeel. this was hands down the best beer i have ever had! words canít describe how i enjoyed this! this beer has everything i want in my stouts! letís hope the vanilla rye will be just as good this year!

Shared 22 ounce bottle courtesy of Twelve Rounds Brewing, nice bourbon aroma and flavor, bourbon executes control over the vanilla. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle at a Migration Week event; I assume this has been properly cellared. Aroma has a slight vanilla note, but the vanilla has definitely faded from where it was even 2 years ago. Moderate bourbon note with light roast and nice chocolate notes. Some light oak character. Pours a tar black color with a small, dark mocha head that recedes quickly to the edges. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma with a very faded vanilla presence. Some moderate sweetness with nice roast character. Moderately strong chocolate with quite a bit of bourbon and light oak notes. Medium bitterness with some oxidation creeping in. Very little alcohol spice notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and has definitely thinned compared to fresher Bourbon County. Medium low carbonation, low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer, but definitely a shell of its former self. I like that it has thinned out and the alcohol has mellowed, but there is almost no vanilla left in this beer.

"as with the regular version, a little sweet and hot, but otherwise delicious. not better imo than the base beer, so not worth the extra coin, but very good nonetheless. big on the vanilla, which BCS already was, so i was already wondering to the point of more vanilla. tasty, but ever so slightly sweeter than BCS, which is overkill. smooth as hell, though."

22oz bottle pours oily black with small tan head. Nose is very hot and boozy, some dark fruity bitter dusty cocoa and chocolate. Taste is a bit thin, kind of average dark fruity bourbon spice, some chocolately oak. The nose is actually a bit harsh. Not a lot of vanilla is detectable. Finish is boozy spice chocolate and some oaky cream cocoa, dusty chocolate, hints of vanilla. Unfortunately this was clearly way past its prime. Still enjoyable but not on the elite level one would hope for.

Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a silky dark burnt umber color with a finger of quickly fading khaki foam. Nose is a blend of deep dark burnt cocoa with hints of bourbon and vanilla. The palate follows with lots of boozy burning bourbon and shallow vanilla bean accents. Super boozy with lots of dark cocoa, gooey chocolate and lingering bourbon heat. Glad to have tried it but not worth the hype at this point in its life.
