At Goose Island our brewers take every opportunity to experiment with new ingredients and aging techniques. For this edition of Bourbon County Brand Stout, they aged the classic recipe in rye whiskey barrels with raspberries and blackberries from Michigan. The result is a powerfully rich beer with notes of tart fruit and jam that fade into the warm spice of a fine rye whiskey.

Bottle shared by DalzAle, thanks Greg! Pours the same dark, viscous like the original and other variants. Aroma is slight berries and bourbon with an upfront berry taste that finishes with bourbon. Very nice.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2014 Bottle signed by Grave Digger shared by Chris at RBWG. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roast whiskey and rye. Thin mouthfeel with strong roast and very sweet. Jammy as hell, light dryness. Good.

Bittle at RBWG hotel tasting. Pours black brown with a fine, beige cream head. Some black raspberries in the nose. Big sweet flavor, dark malta, some earthy bitterness. Heavy sweetness. Full bodies with fine carbonation. Sweet, sticky sugars to finish, some dry raspberries, bit of cocoa. Not altogether bad.
