On tap at GI, into a tasting glass....Pours a clear dark gold. A full thick off white head with great retention and lacing, looks awesome....The aroma is super malty, tons of toffee with a hint of a scotch finish. So-so...I can’t really stand the taste. Its skunky scotch, they claim this is sessionable, not at all, especially not at 7%, alcohol comes through way too much.

Not a huge fan of this. Lighter in color than the description leads you to think. Not as sweet or malty as I would have thought. Didn’t taste like a wee-heavy a little too plain. Serving: Cask

On cask at the clybourn brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a soft white head. Aroma is very mild, but a little malty. Creamy on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty. A little plain for me.

Tasted on 2/16/11 on draft at the Clybourn Brewpub. Pours clear golden with just a bit of red tint, with a thin and even white head that leaves thin and smooth lace. The nose is mostly grassy with bread and caramel malt, and just a hint of bitterness. The flavor is caramel and bread malt, light fruitiness, and lightly grassy hops. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a medium malty finish.

Tap Clybourn (sample): Coppery amber hue with a small frothy head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, bread, apricot, honey, hay, alcohol and some mineral water. The taste is pretty much malt forward but never cloy, some light fruitiness and earthy tones. The mouth feel is surprisingly smooth and thinner than expected and that is a good thing, a touch minerally and warming. A nice brew but I would hardly call it sessionable.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2011 On tap at goose island clybourn... Pours a transparent orange cider hue with a thin wispy white head... Aroma of toasted grain, with a sweeter honey middle, and a very standard scotch ale type of consistency... Flavors have some banana, sweet start and mid-palate then converts to your standard scotch ale. Carbonation is alive with a medium body.
