This Christmas concoction pours a dark ruby red-brown with a thin ring of off-white foam clinging to the glass. Nuts and caramel in the aroma. Flavor is rich and succulent; I detect wood, dark candied fruits, nuts, caramel, and floral hops. A rich and remarkable brew, perfect for the season.

Bought in the 12 oz brown glass bottle. Pours a dark ruby colour very appealing ..small head which dissapears very rapidlly leaving a ring around my glass. Rich deep aromas almost like the rich plum pudding I used to get back home in Scotland..though I sense some salted butter too. Taste is very nice smooth at first and rich plummy taste at the end..bitter hop aftertaste..slight alcohol warmth follows..Im still tasting dark unsweetened chocolate to..very nice flavour! Fels nice in the mouth not too carbonated.. Very good Christmas time ale..good winter beer!!

I guess this beer falls into the first style definition of old ale. It has a nice aroma smelling of malt, molasses, and some spice. The appearance is attractive. Beer pours nice amber brown with off white head that mostly diminishes. Definitely some strong lacing. Flavor department is strong. Nice malty front with smokey finish. Quite nice.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2004 Oooh Yeah! Reminds the dude of NBB 1554, only a bit lighter and crisper. Great nose of citrus and crystal hops. Fantastic! Pours a deep ruby red, not much carbonation, thin head, little lacing. Palate is a bit thin, but flavor is very nice. Flavor is ismilar to NBB 1554, only it tastes like it has the addition of NW hops (I'm thinking cascades). Very good showing.

This beer's appearance consisted of a small sized creamy tan head with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was opaque and free of carbonation with a brown hue. The nose was mildly malty with caramel notes and the same was true for the flavor. The mouthfeel was smooth, thin and watery texture and medium bodied. The lacing was fair.

This brew poured a medium sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lacing and a hazy brown colored body with no visible carbonation. The aroma is very nice with strong notes of caramel malt. The mouthfeel is smooth with a bit of alcohol in it. The flavor is very nice with notes of caramel malt and alcohol with some spice.
