Specialty Belgian malts create a deep garnet color and a truly rich old European flavor in our classic Christmas Ale. And the generous amount of crystal hops adds that extra spicy aroma to your pint, perfect for a wintry night. Our Christmas Ale brings good tidings and joy to each Holiday Season. A two-time Gold Medal Winner in the World Beer Championships.

The original Goose Island Christmas Ale clocked in at 5.7% ABV. There was no 2010 vintage. The 2011 vintage saw a bump to 6.2% ABV but no new entry. The 2012 vintage was bumped up further to 7.5% ABV.

Now this is a damn great beer. Had a few of these in Chicago while visiting friends. Rich flavor with a hearty after taste that leaves you with a craving for the next sip.

2001 on tap. A nice, spicy, christmas beer in the sieera nevada mode. I really enjoy the spicy hops in this one.

(2001) Little carbonation, caramel colored. Sweet and malty up front, with hints of coffee, cinnamon. Slightly smoky finish. Fairly well balanced, with the hops noticable, but not overbearing.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 A surprisingly good beer from GI. Dark body, very rich malt flavor and smooth finish. At 6.8% abv, very warming. Could be my beer of choice this season because of the price/quality ratio. Not incredibly complex but well worth drinking. 2012 Version, 7.3% abv- Creamy and malty, with nice balance between its roasted burnt caramel and notes of herbal vegetable, but shows a slightly off-putting sour cherry note. Finishes with moderate spice notes, I was surprised to see the ABV come in this high.

One of my favorite Goose Island beers. Nice hoppy aroma, with a well balanced taste. And I love the dark ruby color.

(2001) The front end was marked by very woody fragrances. The aroma was almost piney but with hints of cinnamon. The color was a deep amber going on brown with a fluffy tan head. Caramel maltiness and distictive cinnamon streaks. Slick mouthfeel. Very moderately hopped it seems, but a good balance between sweet and bitter. This is my first Goose Island despite living in Illinois. Pretty good and makes me want to check out their other non-holiday offerings.

(2001) Nice, big malty flavor. Roasty and sweet with a nice hop kick similar to the Honker’s ale.

Way too light and laid back for a big winter warmer. Next.
