Specialty Belgian malts create a deep garnet color and a truly rich old European flavor in our classic Christmas Ale. And the generous amount of crystal hops adds that extra spicy aroma to your pint, perfect for a wintry night. Our Christmas Ale brings good tidings and joy to each Holiday Season. A two-time Gold Medal Winner in the World Beer Championships.

The original Goose Island Christmas Ale clocked in at 5.7% ABV. There was no 2010 vintage. The 2011 vintage saw a bump to 6.2% ABV but no new entry. The 2012 vintage was bumped up further to 7.5% ABV.

Clear medium to dark red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light nutty, moderate hoppy, citrus - orange, spicy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is soft. [20100324]

22 fl oz bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden deep orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry spiced and hoppy. Citric and spiced hoppy fruity. Dry and slight sticky caramelish finish. Solid brew.

Ungstrup (34362) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2009
Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic and caramel finish.

Bottle at Ølbaren. Clear orange red coloured with a medium sized off white head. Sweet aroma of fruits, caramel and hops with notes of dried fruits. Sweet flavour of caramel, fruits, hops and grape fruits. Dry hoppy finish.

Bottled (2005 vintage, thanks heemer77). Amber colour with mediumsized beige head. Aroma is spics, hops and some fruity hints. Flavour is mild hops, spices and caramel with some fruityness lurking in the background. Not that special, but wellbalanced and drinkable.

Slight haze on this deep amber beer. Tidy cream coloured head. Smooth semi dry palate. Nice smooth malt base. Well balanced hops with sweet orange dominating. Finishes semi dry. Decent and drinkable.

bottle at home .... copper ... bubbly tan head .... sweet mellon toffee malt nose .... way too fizzy .... quite bitter ... lots of hops ... litle pine ... soft malt base ...would be better with fizz exterminated
