To help break the curse on the Cubs we brewed this light-medium bodied porter. The black malt contributes to a brew that is dark in color, yet mellow in flavor - with hints of chocolate - and a clean aftertaste.

JPDIPSO (5657) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 9, 2009
Dark brown color with a smaller tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, caramel and touch of dough. Flavors start fairly sweet with caramel and nutty malt. Middle added chocolate and darker malts. Finish stays a bit on the sweet side with a black malt bitterness. The goat still lives!

On tap at the Wrigleyville brewpub before a Cubs game. Pours dark reddish brown with a beige head that disappears without a trace. Aroma is roasty coffee and malt with a little chocolate. Flavor loses a little of the coffee. Thin bodied with an astringent roasty finish.

CASK!!!! at goose ... I could feel the difference in mouth feel on this one to all there KEGS... so why there notdoing more CASK i just dont know ... Deep brown ... light roast light pale ale hop nose ... sweet roast ... light malt ...little tofee.. it just wasnt roast enough.

Draft at GI. Dark brown pour with an off white head. The first thing I smelled was a good bit of roast, followed by an odd charcoal aroma and some light chocolate. Flavor was quite toasty and lacked much of a body. Way too thin for me.

On tap at clybourn. Dark brown almost opaque black with small beige head. Subtle smokey aroma with dry roasted malt. Flavor is smokey with some raspberry/raisin, prune, some roast, sweet, yeasty. Mediun to light body with light carbonation. Interesting, I donít know if I am completely into but sessionable.

i was forewarned and drank it anyways. this was truly terrible. i donít how they pulled it off but it tasted like the bottom of an ashtray. i couldnít even finish half of it. i couldnít believe how bad this tasted.

Draught at Goose Island Tavern, Chicago, Illinois. An okay porter that poured a rich brown colour and the aroma of caramel. It had well-balance flavours of spice, malt and hops though it was a bit too thin for me.

Draught at the Goose Island Tavern, Wrigleyville, Chicago. A decent if standard porter with some nice chocolate and earthy characteristics. The palate is a bit thin and it was typically served too cold -- although the complexity of the flavours emerged somewhat when it had the chance to warm slightly.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - APR 5, 2008
Draft at GI Clybourn. Poured a clear dark brown color with a light tan head. Some orange light came through around the edges of the glass. Aroma was of light roasty malt, chocolate, and a hint of cola. Medium to full bodied and sweet. Carbonation was on the low end of the spectrum. There were toffee and chocolate flavors with delicate roasty malt in the background. I didnít get much of any hop flavor. Pretty good stuff, but they may need to up the octane in order to help the Cubs.
