Commercial Description:
To help break the curse on the Cubs we brewed this light-medium bodied porter. The black malt contributes to a brew that is dark in color, yet mellow in flavor - with hints of chocolate - and a clean aftertaste.

Draught at the Goose Island Tavern, Wrigleyville, Chicago. A decent if standard porter with some nice chocolate and earthy characteristics. The palate is a bit thin and it was typically served too cold -- although the complexity of the flavours emerged somewhat when it had the chance to warm slightly.

Draft at GI Clybourn. Poured a clear dark brown color with a light tan head. Some orange light came through around the edges of the glass. Aroma was of light roasty malt, chocolate, and a hint of cola. Medium to full bodied and sweet. Carbonation was on the low end of the spectrum. There were toffee and chocolate flavors with delicate roasty malt in the background. I didn’t get much of any hop flavor. Pretty good stuff, but they may need to up the octane in order to help the Cubs.

draught at GI clybourn.... just had to have this just prior to opening day (it didn’t help).... poured a dark cola brown, looking rather watery, and topped with a very thin wispy light brown head..... aroma of light roast and chocolate malt..... flavores had some chocolate, roasted malt but it was all a little too watery. carbonation level was pretty low as well.

On tap @ Clybourn. Black pour with a tan head. Liquorice, roasted malts, dark chocolate and light coffee fill out the aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, liquorice and chocolate. Medium body, roasy/bittersweet with a roasty finish.

On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin ring of off-white head. Sweet grainy dark caramel malty nose has a touch of dark chocolate and bready yeast. Body starts fairly full and earthy dark caramely sweet with some nice chocolatey balance. An enjoyable, smooth and drinkable porter, but the cubs still suck.

Draught pint at the Clybourn location, June 26 2007. Not quite opaque molasses-to-black color, bit of lasting tan head....light roasty-chocolaty nose, indistinct, a bit grapy, really quite innocuous which isn’t a good thing....bit of vanilla and chocolate in the lightly roasty but mostly sweet body....clean, smooth, easy to drink and quite boring....low to moderate carbonation, slick.
