Commercial Description:
To help break the curse on the Cubs we brewed this light-medium bodied porter. The black malt contributes to a brew that is dark in color, yet mellow in flavor - with hints of chocolate - and a clean aftertaste.

On tap at GI Clybourn. Transparent brown pour, roasty aroma. Chocolaty flavor. Decent, but I wouldn’t buy a pint of it with some of the other selections available at the brewpub.

On tap @ Clybourn: Pours dark brown with a white head. Aroma, faint chocolate, with some coffee. Flavor, chocolate, roasted malts, some light coffee bitterness. Very average porter.

On tap at Clybourn pub in Chicago. A kind of thin porter with nothing really outstanding about it. Didn’t like the mouthfeel-- too watery. And all the gimmicky Cubs references kind of turned me off-- beer is serious!

Sampler at Clybourn. "Break the curse?" How about not enabling team suckiness? Too damn many Cubbie references in this place. Deep brown color, but the smell and taste are closer to their nut brown than a porter. Lightly roasted coffee with chicory note. Still sits lightly and goes down easily, and that counts for something.

Tasted at Goose Island Clybourn. Ruby-red/brown with no head. Charred aroma, sweet flavor with oak and low roastiness. A tad thin for a porter.

On tap at Clybourn. Pours dark with a large off-white head. Almost no aroma to speak of and the flavor is dominated by charred wood with traces of molasses. Alright.

Poured a deep mahogany/brown and absolutely headless. Hazelnut & toffee aroma with mild alcohol and maple syrup. A little sticky, a little dirty, mostly mid-bodied but a little on the thin side. Flavors find mild chocolate malts with a touch of bitterness to finish while the aftertaste was semi-sweet. I drank it and immediately forgot that RAYBOY was at the pub... so I had another.
