bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA May 23, 2006 (Draught) Pours a burgundy body with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin ring of off-white head. Sweet grainy dark caramel malty nose has a touch of dark chocolate and bready yeast. Body starts fairly full and earthy dark caramely sweet with some nice chocolatey balance. An enjoyable, smooth and drinkable porter, but the cubs still suck. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 10, 2005 Updated: Jul 26, 2005This disappointed me after the pour, a deep brown color with ruby highlights and a rocky cocoa head. The very aroma was watery - dark malt with a smattering of coffee and a dollop of chocolate. Thin. The taste was fine - sweet malts, chocolate, coffee, vanilla - but weak. Very clean finish.

JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 9, 2009 Dark brown color with a smaller tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, caramel and touch of dough. Flavors start fairly sweet with caramel and nutty malt. Middle added chocolate and darker malts. Finish stays a bit on the sweet side with a black malt bitterness. The goat still lives! muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 17, 2007 Draught pint at the Clybourn location, June 26 2007. Not quite opaque molasses-to-black color, bit of lasting tan head....light roasty-chocolaty nose, indistinct, a bit grapy, really quite innocuous which isn’t a good thing....bit of vanilla and chocolate in the lightly roasty but mostly sweet body....clean, smooth, easy to drink and quite boring....low to moderate carbonation, slick. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 21, 2004 On tap at Wrigleyville: Deep brown hue with a small creamy tan head and some lace. The aroma hints of nutty roasted malts, subdued caramel and smoky notes, floral and grassy hops, apple and current, earthy yeast esters, a bit faint thought. The taste is also nutty and malty with a bit of an acidic background. Some fruity tones. The finish displays a smoky and bitter nature. Clean, lively and refreshing basic porter mouthfeel. A good porter but not a "curse" remover. Nice Dead Goat shirts for sale too....Windy July like day at Wrigley, Cubs versus Reds, 11-10 final. Loss, go figure. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland May 4, 2009 CASK!!!! at goose ...
