CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 18, 2007 On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin ring of off-white head. Sweet grainy dark caramel malty nose has a touch of dark chocolate and bready yeast. Body starts fairly full and earthy dark caramely sweet with some nice chocolatey balance. An enjoyable, smooth and drinkable porter, but the cubs still suck. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2007 On tap @ Clybourn. Black pour with a tan head. Liquorice, roasted malts, dark chocolate and light coffee fill out the aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, liquorice and chocolate. Medium body, roasy/bittersweet with a roasty finish. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA May 23, 2006 (Draught) Pours a burgundy body with a small creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jun 21, 2006 Poured a deep mahogany/brown and absolutely headless. Hazelnut & toffee aroma with mild alcohol and maple syrup. A little sticky, a little dirty, mostly mid-bodied but a little on the thin side. Flavors find mild chocolate malts with a touch of bitterness to finish while the aftertaste was semi-sweet. I drank it and immediately forgot that RAYBOY was at the pub... so I had another.

JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2004 baltic porter mustiness, black with a thin head. waxy and lurking sourness. Nice as part of a taster set, but unsatisfying last time as a full pint. Some vinousness as it warmed and hints of bitter chocolates/ jaymobrown (1344), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 5, 2005 Not much to say about this one. It’s a porter through and through. Dark, some hints of chocolate, vanillla, a bit of sourness. Average mouthfeel. Pretty good porter. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 21, 2004 On tap at Wrigleyville: Deep brown hue with a small creamy tan head and some lace. The aroma hints of nutty roasted malts, subdued caramel and smoky notes, floral and grassy hops, apple and current, earthy yeast esters, a bit faint thought. The taste is also nutty and malty with a bit of an acidic background. Some fruity tones. The finish displays a smoky and bitter nature. Clean, lively and refreshing basic porter mouthfeel. A good porter but not a "curse" remover. Nice Dead Goat shirts for sale too....Windy July like day at Wrigley, Cubs versus Reds, 11-10 final. Loss, go figure. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2004 Ah, what a cute name for a beer. Dark reddish brown with a thin tan head. Lightly roasted coffee and big chocolate aromas. Smooth, creamy body. Pretty good flavors well crafted for long sessions. The malts are evident and certainly the strong point. A touch of hops in the end, but nothing to write home about. I doubt this will ever end a curse, unless your curse is missing an average porter.
