COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Devon Ave. is a pale ale that recalls an age of daring exploration and trade across uncharted waters. This team set out on the brackish sea of brewing innovation in search of a recipe that would honor age-old tradition and modern technique. The tradition of English brewing, the cuisine of India, and the knowledge of our brewers in Chicago converged at the Patel Brothers Spice House on Devon Ave. Here they found the spices they would use in the finished beer - amchoor spice, cardamom, ajowan, along with chai tea from Davidís Tea in Canada.

Nice clarity with a golden maple hue and a lasting cream-colored head; Harmonious balance of Chai blend, cinnamon, tropical green mango and a spicy earthiness; Complex blend of tart mango, thyme, mint, slightly smokey with a pleasant creamy mouthfeel; Dry with a mild astringency from the tea.

On tap 2014 GTMW, too much spice on the nose for this one and Iím not a big fan of ginger to begin with, the flavor is much of the same, spices with a slight malty backbone, really meh.

It poured an orange color with a white head. The aroma was of spice, malts, some fruit and a hint of cinnamon. The taste was similar with some chai tea, and some earthiness. Decent.

Hazy pale yellow color. Moderately spicy, dry, smooth, with reasonable bitterness, and crispy final.
Delicate and fine.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Orange-amber color with a low head. Spicy nose: ginger, chai spice, black pepper. Spicy, citrus flavor, just like chai. Ginger. Nicely done chai beerónot too much.

Drought. Clear rich yellow with small off-white foamy head, doughy aroma, low carbonation sharp hops taste without a prominent aroma, abrupt finish with bitterish aftertaste. Reminds me of a bitter.

Draft at railroad. Pours clear copper with a small white head. The aroma is loaded with Chai tea, especially clove. The taste is spicy like Chai with a nice sweetness on the finish. Semi-dry.

Tap at Happy Gnome. Cool beer. Slightly hazy orange pour with a large white head. Aroma is very complex - mint, cinnamon, and tea. Smooth palate, finishes slightly dry. Good stuff.

On draught at Belmont Station. Full golden color. Aroma is cardamom, chai spice, thyme, and other spices. Taste is similar, with a sweeter tinge to the spices and a dominant black tea note. This got better as I drank it; at first the spices were overwhelming, but it tasted sweeter and more like a nice iced chai.
