Nice golden ruby pour with some lace. Tart aroma that is tamed by the oak but a nice fruitiness too. The belgian yeast is nice and the sour is very good - not overwhelming at all, just nice and citrus-y and tart. The oak really balances it and is pretty noticable on the palate. Really good beer.

on tap st. sour day. holy grale louisville. this was one of the highlight beers for me. this has the aromas of hay and sour and funk, its a brett lacto spice upfront nose, the spice i suspect comes from the barrels. it poured a straw gold with a nice white head, hazy and opaque. the tastes of sour goodness mixed with spice or almost a black pepperish flavor, the sour tasted of a sour ctirus fruit, lots of tart and tang. the palate is very effervescent which helps to promote the bite that already comes from the sour. overall, straight awesome, im glad to have tried the all the sours from GI, inbev or not

Sour funky bourbon is the best way to describe this unusual beer. All of that yet still somehow refreshing with how it finishes. Really cool.

From notes. First reviewed 1/4/2011. Served on tap at Fountainhead in an oversized wine glass.
Dominique pours a transparent cherry amber color with a small floating white cap that manages to retain nicely and leave a few specks of lace on the glass.
Sweet and tart cherries pop into my nose at first, then Belgian yeast spiciness, Brett, and the BCS barrels in the back - bourbon, oak, and viscous stout lurking.
The first sip of this beer was one of the best I have had, the flavors somehow just compliment each other so well. Cherry, sweet but mostly tart, along with tart apple leads the pale malt into the spicy yeast. A little bit of funk and mild alcohol, then a little bourbon, oak, and a miniature version of all of the BCS flavors - smoke, caramel, coffee, and vanilla. The vanilla is what really ties the flavor in with the base beer.
Smooth, tart, fruity, moderately dry, and a bit creamy toward the end. A bit sticky on the lips.
Just an awesome beer. I really enjoyed the complexity and could drink this all night.

Swing-top growler shared by Tooch4321...thanks Adam! - Pours orange amber with a thin foamy white head. Light peppery funk with a bit of milky toffee sweetness. Sweet with just a bit of oaky sharpness. Taste is light sweet malt--really smooth, with just a bit of citrusy tartness on the finish and a bit of sharp oakiness. Got better as it warmed up, but it’s sweet enough where drinking a lot of this would be tough. Light, feathery carbonation--really fluffs up in the mouth.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2011 Draft at Dexters. Unfiltered orange-brown-tan. Thin, oily head. Bourbon and sour combine leaving an awkward white wine flavor. Malt backbone smooths it out a touch. No hop tones apparent. Drinkable, but below par for a sour. OK at best....
Rerate..from a half growler...comes off a lot more balanced..nice sour nuances..
