Brewed with the Saison and Farmhouse ales of Belgium in mind, we added fresh Michigan cherries and Brettanomyces to a wine barrel and aged the Saison base for 9 months.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2011 Bottle shared by John Hall . Sweet. Pinkish amber with a small white head that displayed a touch of pink. Very upfront with the cherry in the aroma, with some cinnamon, oak, caramel, and wild yeast. Flavor follows that. The finish is tart up front, but a grainy, almost graham cracker hits you after the tartness. Definitely well balanced in that aspect, but I think sour heads might be a little disappointed. Awesome.

Hazy apricot color with very little head. Spicy cherries, slightly antisceptic. Sourdough bread, lemon, border-line cherry pie filling sweetness. Nicely balanced with sour. Pleasant lasting tart finish. Memorable.

Thanks to Sean for sneaking this to me... pours light pink with a golden hue... really nice nose of raspberries, brett, and lemons, a little funk but mostly sweet raspberries... really successful taste with a nice tart and sweet balance, the berries show off mostly but a nice sour lactic bite... need to have this again

Draft on tap at Acre GI Invasion event (Chicago, IL). Pours a pinkish berry hue, deeper dark coppery amber with a good haze, frothy whitish head dies to a small lightly lacing ring. Aromas are quite pleasant with lemons, cranberries, and raspberries, some light bretty funk, lactic acid, touches of wet oak, hay, and barnyard. Pretty tart fruit dominant on the nose. Initial is lighter bodied, fruity Sophie like feel moving into red berries and a touch of red wine tannins, cranberries, cherries, lemons and orange citrus. Real lively grapefruit grows, fruity and acidic, tart and sour grows on the palate, almost like grapefruit juice or cranberry lemonade. Really nice touch stronger than moderate sour with great fruity grapefruit and cherry or cranberry lemonade appeal. Finish is dry, a touch of ginger, lemons and grapefruit with a lingering citrusy acidity, touches of oak. Really nice sour here with a gorgeous aroma of florals, rich deep citrus, berries, and peach. Great fruit, fairly acidic sour bite wins me over. Must try this if you have a chance. It’s amazing what the Sophie base can do, no?
