Draft full pour on tap at the Clybourn Brewpub (Chicago, IL). My first Farmers Market of the season. Pours a rich well hazed straw golden amber hue, touches of sunfire, good strawberry blonde middle and haze in there. A cakey bubbly whitish head atop dies to an ok layer, laces small. Aromas are bursts of strawberry fruit, more shortcake feel with just a hint of tartness. Lemons, more strawberry, touches of sugar, cakey gentle sweet malts with bread, grain, and cereal elements. Light touches of bread yeast, mellow earthy hops. The strawberry element shines. Initial lighter end of medium bodied, touches of mellow bready malts, straw, and grainy elements. Touches of fruity and tangy sweet strawberry elements show up a bit more into the backend. Offering touches of lemon, mellow strawberry shortcake sweetness and a firm strawberry vibrant flavor. Touches of soap, earthy hops give some dryness into the backend, with mellow dry bread, dry grassy and herbal hop elements, kiss of lemon, dry grainy malts dry out a bit more with the aftertaste giving more an hommage to the strawberry element, tangy and gently sweet. Pretty nice fresh summer fruit beer without giving in to the fruit too much, remaining true to the base into middle and backend, fruit stealing the nose, front, and aftertaste elements. Well integrated, more natural fruit feel on this treatment.
