Draft flight on tap at the Clybourn Brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a dulled straw yellow hue with touches of darker orange in the middle. Firm haziness, light carbonation and a frothy whitish head sit atop, dies to a ring and laces small. Aromas are distinct straw and flaked wheat, decent estery elements enter the fold with pear and banana, gentle clove. A kiss of lemon, but more grainy and bready overall. Firm aromas are fruity and enjoyable. Initial is a firm flavor element up front, banana and pear, gentle clove, touches of lemon, bready dough, almost a cool vanilla element. Bready malts, gentle yeasty elements. Touches of tart fruit, almost a kiss of crab apple, lemon mixed in with banana into middle with bread, gentle spice. Bready grainy malts. Backend and finish offer gentle tartness, mellow to decent bubblegum elements hit in middle and backend. Dry out with gentle spice a touch, lingering estery banana and a gentle tartness. Solid.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2012 Sampler @ the Clyborn location. Golden in color with a slightly sticky lacing. As a hefe the banana esters were present on the nose but not overly crazy with toned down estery sweetness.. Less sweet more subdued esters in the flavor as well. A nicely done hefe.

On tap @ the Clyborn location. Pours a near clear orangish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a slight tart note with a good amount of banana and some clove. Flavor is similar with sweet wheat, a light tart note and a good amount of banana. Didn’t really come together.
