3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 solidfunk (1919) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 26, 2013
Belgian ale with strong strain of bretta. Pours cloudy pale yellow. Sourness from bretta and hibiscus flowers, although funnily enough this doesn’t have a lot of initial florals in aroma. Finishes with light sourness. Fizzy carbonation. Bottle from 2011.

Bottle gift from SJ for our Goose Island night. Definitely a lot going on here. Strawberry, lemon, peach, bread with a tart flowery finish. I like it.

12oz bottle (2011). Pours a light orange, very minimal head but high carbonation throughout. Scent is floral, quite nice. Taste is light, lemon citrus with some Belgian yeast and a slight sour finish.

2011 bottle poured into goblet. Hazy amber pour with an airy lively white head that dissapates quick. Smells sweet. Not much else in the nose that I?m getting. Light and airy mouth feel, lots of lemon/citrus flavor, sour finish. I have another bottle from 2011 that I?ll save for another year or two; curious how it develops.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jeremyh70 (371) - Missouri, USA - MAR 6, 2013
2011 bottle pours orange with a rosy tint. Small white head with decent lacing. Aroma of flowers with some brett funk and hint of orange and lemon. Floral notes in taste with orange rind, some earthy barnyard and a slight tartness. Medium bodied with thin mouthfeel, lively carbonation and dry finish. Nice and very drinkable. Puts one in mind of Orval without being a clone.

2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 bwa5879 (317) - Portage, Michigan, USA - MAR 5, 2013
2011 12oz bottle from Kingma's Market, Grand Rapids, MI. Gold thick and hazy pour with a moderate amount of bubbles emanating from glass bottom. Lively, slightly offwhite head that began at an inch and settled to a thin layer. Small amount of lacing as well. Aromas of (in order of precedence) spring flowers, hibiscus, strawberry, strong lemon, honey, sour vinegar and then rye. Taste is very light. All the aromas blend into one taste. Mild, watery lemon citrus and flavors that remind one of fragrant flowers. Overall a bit sour in flavor. Left with a very faint tea flavor upon finish. Palate notes: moderately high carbonation with tingly and watery mouth feel, reminiscent of soda water. Dry finish like Chardonnay. Overall alright but not great in my eyes. Better (and stronger) scent than taste.

From bottle, courtesy of dpjuart. Wonderful floral-funky nose. Bretty and neutral fruit, hint of acid and leather. Very Orval-ish. Medium dark amber clear with thin off-white head. Starts fairly dry with light funky farm and leather. Neutral fruit with dry hops and yeast. Nice ale.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Lemke10 (544) - Janesville, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Pours a copper looking color this in between clear and cloudy. There is an average head that leave some nice lacing around the center of the glass. Scent is very floral with a hint that reminds me of pumpkin. The taste is oh so smooth and delicious. The beer is so well crafted and brewed that it’s difficult to pick out individual flavors. Some citrus and floral scent are evident though. A great beer that was definitely worth the $8!
