4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pouts a slightly hazy gold with a rosey tint. Big, lasting head with plenty of lacing. Floral, spicy, fruity, pale malt aromas are pronounced. Taste is dry and tart. Sort of cherry thing going on. A light, crisp, highly effervescent Belgian style ale.

Very hazy amber beer. Good sized white head. Semi crisp and semi dry palate. A tiny bit of barnyard. Sweet floral hibiscus dominates. Finishes light and dry. Not bad!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2010 vintage into a tulip glass. Bottled: 09/17/10 1652.
A - Pours a hazy amber body with some floating yeast bits. Two finger white head forms. Thin cap with decent lacing.
S - Heavy notes of lemon, dried strawberry, hay, and socks. Some herbal and flowery elements on the finish. Very clean and fresh. Smell is amazing.
T - Lemons and hay. The finish is of soft and pleasant oily flower pedals and baby powder. Tasty and refreshing. Mouth feel is crisp and well carbed. Long flowery aftertaste.
O - Seems like a more delicate version of Hops n Roses. A very elegant and beautiful beer that will hopefully be lifted out of retirement sometime in the future.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2011 12 oz. bottle served in a Pilsner glass.
A: Pours a clear, bubbly amber with red hues mixed in throughout the body. A 1 finger, pure white head forms on the pour and leaves some sticky lace on the way down.
S: Some peppery yeast is present up front with a some nice fruit skins and a little sweetness.
T: The Belgian yeast is present again in a little bubblegum fashion. Tart fruit skins, some sweet flower and a clean malt bill on the finish.
M: Light bodied with a lively carbonation. Leaves a fresh, clean mouth afterward.
O: This was a decent enough beer, but the flavors didn’t pop for me and it was sort of muddled in the taste.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear golden with a light pinkish hue and off whitish head sandy head. The aroma brings the floral hibiscus and Belgian yeast in a fresh 2011 bottle, but the 2010 brings some light Belgian funk for sure. The flavor brings the hibiscus floral flavors dominating over the Belgian yeast, a bit too fresh. The 2010 with a few years kicks the yeast up really nicely with just a tad of funk and a bit sweeter on the steeped hibiscus. The body is carbonated just right on the ’10 and a bit of a swirler on the ’11.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is one of my favorites of the goose island premium beers. Floral and fruity with a light tartness. Light on the tongue and delicious all the way down.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an orange-ish red color with no head. Strong smell of strawberry and floral pine. Tart bubbly taste with some berry and a tinge of tea. Dry and almost no aftertaste. Different take on a Belgian and I applaud the effort, but it just wasn't memorable enough, too subtle.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2010 bomber bottle and served in a Duvel snifter: Deep golden near amber hue with a lasting frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of sour apple, cheesy brett, rose hips, earthy minerals, biscuity malt, and some tannic oak vapours (could that be the tea?). The taste has a nice acidic nature, moderately sour’d and slightly funky over a layer of spearmint gum and bready malts. Fruity and finishes very dry and tannic. Wow, I am shocked by how good this beer is and the lovely complexity. The mouth feel is a tad too dry on the finish for complete refreshment however. Overall I must say that the couple of years aging as indeed done this beer a world of good.
