COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Three of our favorite porter recipes were blended to create this nice roasty hop balance of Centennial and Cascade hops and strong malt backbone.

On cask at GI on Clybourn. Pours a jet black with an effervescent tan head that laces nicely. Nose and taste is sweeter that expected with a bit of raspberry. Very nice beer paired with my lamb burger. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flight on tap at the Clybourn brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich brownish dark hue, light throws lots of ruby notes throughout with a frothy beige head, dies to a film and laces small. Aromas are fruity and dry, touches of roast, dryness, and toast quickly come into the fold. Seedy red fruit, raspberries and strawberry preserves, some currant, roast, toast, gentle sweetness. Dry touch of hops. Initial is medium bodied offering touches of dryness and toast up front, quickly moving into a red fruit feel. Raspberries and strawberries give a distinct jammy quality, touches of tartness, sweet red fruit, currant. Some toast and roast, gentle bready quality, some light sweeter caramel and dry floral and gentle citrus hopping into the middle. Finish is a touch earthy, toast, and lingering berry qualities. Roasty, some cocoa, touches of citrusy hops. Pretty nice, but much different than expected.

Sample at goose cly... Pours a dr pepper like hued liquid, mostly reddish brown and topped with a light beige headthat retreats to a thin film... Aroma is dark fruit with a bit of tartness thrown in while not enhibiting a deeper chocolate or road profile at all... Flavors exhibit noted of cocoa alongside dark fruit and a little citrus. Fruit and semi-sweet with more of a fruit influence. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Deviates from the style.

Draft at clyboun, pours dark mahogany with off white head. Aroma is surprisingly fruity - Jammy fruit and raspberry seeds, mild chocolate notes. Flavors are sweet milk chocolate, fruity grapefruit and melon notes, smoother roast to it. Healthy hop bitterness. Thin body. Low carbonation. An odd porter, An odd cross between English and American and actually doesn’t seem very porterish really, more like an American strong but whatever I found it interesting.

Draft at Clybourn. This appeasr to be a slightly different beer, perhaps with berries. At any rate, pours a deep brown-black with a tan head. Nose has sticky notes of caramel and cocoa and some soft raspberry notes. On tasting, it is medium sweet with cocoa, some honey notes and notable hops. Faint raspberry tartness and caramel. Pretty interesting and different.

On tap at the Clybourn location. Pours a dark brown color with a really large tan head with quite the retention time and a ton of sticky lacing as it falls down my glass. The nose is a bit strange with some roasted notes and chocolate but then followed up with a bit of a chemical character and some slight diacetyl, which is really surprising for a Goose Island beer, especially here at the brewpub--something I’ve never quite experienced with them. Didn’t particularly care for the taste either, as the buttery components came through more and a medicinal touch really came alongside this. Some slight sweetness lingering in the background. Some of the more-pleasant notes became more dominant as it warmed, though I never really started to enjoy this one. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 01-02-2011

Pour dark brown with tan head good lace. Aroma roasty, chocolate, nutty, coffee and mild hops. Taste coffee, chocolate, roasty, brown sugar, with decent hop bitterness. MF medium to full body mild carb. Decent porter but not overly balanced.
