mikeben (335), Naperville, Illinois, USA Oct 7, 2007 Tasted kind of like a pale ale to me.I wouldn’t say it is bitter exacly in flavor but it just has that bitter mouthfeel once swallowed that turns me off to pale ales in general. It had some oktoberfest type spice, but not enough to please me. I didn’t pour it out but woiuldn’t drink another.
kseecs16 (570), Westmont, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice clear amber with a big creamy off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Fresh sweet resinous hop aroma with some caramel notes. Caramelly up front with a spicy herby hop finish and some toasty dry hints. Quite nice. Fully creamy feel in the mouth. Lngering flavors last quite a while and are lightly bitter with some toasty sweet notes. boto (1222), Granby, Connecticut, USA Oct 3, 2008 Draught @ Old Chicago: This one pours an orangish-amber color that was pretty clear. There was a decent sized white head on it. The aroma was quite nice. Lots of hops to the nose. They are mainly piney, but there is a caramel sweetness comong to the top also. Some spiciness too. The taste is quite good also. A little bit of sweet malts, piney bitterness, some spiciness. Well balanced and easy to drink. JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 1, 2008 Deep amber brew with a creamy white head. Aroma is quite lovely. Fresh hoppy aroma with a bright cascade citrusy nose over some sweet caramel malt. A little bit toasty and sweet smelling as well. Flavour is much less hoppy that the aroma would suggest, but it’s stilll nice and toasty and sweet. There is a bit of light spicy hop flavour that is quite prominent. Great balance with both the malt and hops coming through. Lightly orangey with a nice lingering spiciness on the back. This is a really nice autumn brew. 17thfloor (721), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 1, 2008 Pours a glowing clear rich amber with big soda like bubbles and a small frothy tan head. Wow! Extremely hoppy aroma, very fresh, piney, grapefruit and citrus with some sweet caramel malt, fantastic! Flavor not quite as enticing, but still very good. Lighter caramel malt, not particularly clean, salty piney hops, a bit of grapefruit finishing earthy bitter. Medium body, slightly chewy, larger soda carbonation. Very Goose Island. bu11zeye (3768), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 30, 2008 (Draught) Pours a hazy amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of grass, herbs, caramel, and florals. Flavor of hops (herbal, grassy) and toasted grain with a moderately bitter finish.
