Brewed with Black Barley, Roasted Barley and Caramel Malt for a rich, roasty flavor and aroma. Served unfiltered for the darkest of pints, Goose Island’s original Stout recipe has long been a fall favorite.

August 6, 2012 on tap at Clybourn. Dark brown pour with limited head. Roasted malt and chocolate in the aroma and taste. Light to medium body with a dry finish. Really wanted to try this on cask, but was just a few hours too early.

ARH (1113) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2015
On tap, poured into a nonic glass. The aroma is fresh coffee and dark fruit with an emerging baking chocolate. The beer is dark and rich with a near opaque, caramel brown hue and a tan, creamy-doughy head that has moderate retention, and good, snowy lace. The taste is medium high sweet and medium bitter. The creamy texture has a thin creamy fuzz for carbonation, and a medium full body. The palate profile is brownies and oatmeal with a roasty finish that cleans quickly leaving an aftertaste that has a mild hoppy cleanse followed by lightly cloying baker chocolate that lingers.

Draft. Pours black with creamy tan head. Aroma is real nutty with dark chocolate, caramelly too. Flavors prickly carbonation right off the bat, with some nutty cocoa gojng on, finishes dry. Med body. Good stuff, maybe just needs to tone down the carbonation.

On draft at brewpub, poured a dark brown color, aromas of roast, chocolate, light vanilla, and some light earth. Flavors are the same, light on the palate, little roast on the back end, nice beer overall.
