Poured from the tap. Clear light amber brown with off-white head. Malty aroma. Malty taste, cereal, with some mild nutty notes. Medium body. Full taste to start, but dissipates into mild finish.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2014 Bottle: Solid amber color with burnt orange highlights; super-hazy, nearly opaque & topped with a creamy, eggshell head on top that leaves some generous lacing behind. Aroma is super malty; soft caramel, toasted nuts, lightly boozy toffee, earthy & leafy hop aromas, candied barley, & very subtle brown sugar. Taste is a little watered down & very light. Mild nuttiness, much less sweet than the aroma would indicate. Light toffee & caramel over earth, dirt, grass, toast, & a timid nuttiness. Mild, woodsy musk flavor with caramel covered toast & toasted nuts in the aftertaste... Small hint of yeast & wet wood. Lots of stuff packed into this 4.3% ABV beer, but the synchronization could be a little better.

Pours a clear copper with thin white head the quickly dissolves. Light hop and malt aroma. Nice amount of hop bitterness with a smooth mouth feel. Refreshing light finish. An excellent session beer.

Quite unusual sweetish taste. Moorish, and distinctive sweet aroma I hadn’t smelled before.

DATE TASTED: February 13, 2014... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky’s Tavern pint...OCCASION: snow day half done--part two of the storm, beginning now ... APPEARANCE: classic amber body with steady effervescence; beautiful snow white head that creates wonderful, patterned lacing... AROMA: butterscotch, hazelnut, and light yet fragrant hops are counterbalanced by the expected English bitter malts...PALATE: active, medium bodied yet easy-drinking, as the label advertises...TASTE: bitter indeed--slightly abrasive bite tempered by unmistakable ESB maltiness--drinkable and enjoyable, but not overtly winning... OVERALL: a strong representation of the style, with the proper strength, mouthfeel and flavor to elicit a sessionable night; a second quality offering from Goose Island, after the 312 Wheat...

Bottle from chester beer and wine, chester. Orange amber beer with large head. Quite a bit of carbonation. Aroma of yeast, mandarins, malts and caramel. The taste follows the aroma with the addition of grapefruit. Decent.

Bottle gift from SJ. Nice easy drinking brew with notes of caramel malt, and hop. The body was a bit too think for my tastes, but it was still good.

Wittales (636) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Appearance was clear deep gold with diminishing creamy off white 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are simple biscuit toasty malts with light floral hop nose, maybe fruity yeasts instead. Taste are mild biscuit toast toffee malts with soft earthy spicy hops. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with light-medium body, then lasting balanced slightly drying finish. An good bitter for the style.

Dark pour with beige head. Caramel, malt, hop, dark fruits. Pretty complex, toasted malt backbone. Fruit and oak, followed by the bite. Medium-thin body.
