Good session beers are hard to find and when you do find one they are harder to put down. I love this beer, enough hops to make it stand out but not too strong, the malt makes it chewy but doesn’t affect its drinkability - contray, its rich taste makes it a smooth travel down your gullet.

A pretty average beer. Definitely a good summer brew. Theres a hoppy aroma with some ginger on the nose as well and a touch of malt. The flavor was much the same, pretty thin on the palate. Slighty bitter end but not terrible. Meh. I can take it or leave it.

Bottle. Pour a hazy light orange color. Decent but short lived white head with some lacing on the glass. Has a the aroma of malt with a slightly bitter hop after taste that you would expect from an Ale. An easy to drink smooth beer that I will definately be drinking again.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2012 This was my first Honkers. I enjoyed two at the Filling Station in St Charles, IL. The ale had some spice to the nose. The color was an amber with a nice head. This is a great beer that can be enjoyed most any time. It lived up to the reputation. This was enjoyed at Gibson’s in Oak Brook on a trip to Chicago in June 2012. Top notch everyday beer. Medium body wiyh average carbonation. Smooth finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Made a good appearance, poured a hazy orange hued tarnished copper with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, fair amount of sticking, moderate carbonation overall.
Had a nose of citrus and woody hops with a toasted grainy maltiness.
A crisp, dry and smooth light bodied mouth feel, good drinkability.
Toasted grainy and bready with a citrus and woody hop taste, the hop bitterness are soft and smooth, a nice dry crispiness from the malts and a dry grainy and hoppy finish.
Another good brew from Goose Island, one of my favorite Great Lakes/Midwest brewers. Also, my bottle has a red label with the words "English Bitter" on it and I feel, personally, that this has more in common with a bitter than a APA. Best before date on the back label, 08/27/06.

Was a very smooth beer with no bitter after taste. It is rather malty but I would definitely drink it again.

On tap in Chicago Bennigans. Nice dark copper pour with a somewhat thin tan head. I’m surprised this is an APA...I remember the heavy malt middle and finish. Very English. Very malty. I really liked it. Lots of wood/oak in the finish, which is nice and bitter. I’m a bit of a hop junkie, so I know this isn’t anywhere near the top, but I’ll say it’s one heckuva good accessible beer. If you live in the midwest lol.
