3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2006 12 oz bottle. Beautiful transmitted orange color; has a cloudy/murky reflected color. Initial reaction = not as good as Bass but better than Redhook; put it just under S.Nevada. Actually well balanced. Excellent aroma, decent lacing. Medium to high on the conditioning bite/sting. APA for sure; trying to copy the Brits using indiginous materials...Got a strange buzz from this beer, and I detect the piney-ness which is in their IPA (someone mentioned that this is the Chinook hop). Tastes like thier IPA w/ less hops.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Goose Island is the closest I drink to commercial beer. Honkers is a mainstay when youíre in basic bars in Chicago. itís "ok." Basic pale ale. Nothing special. Hardly hoppy. You buy it when itís the only real beer on the menu.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle - 12 oz) Had a few of these at OíHare International Airport in Chicago. Nice amber color with a tiny amount of white foam. Aroma was nice and hoppy with a hint of some bitterness and some sweet malts. Flavor wasnít as hoppy as I was expecting, but it was still nice. Nice and smooth hop flavor at the beginning with a medium body and a slightly bitter and not too overpowering hoppy finish. A bit watery but not too bad.

Decent apa. Sort of like Anchorís Libery Ale but not quite as vibrant. Little on thin side.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2008 Re-rate, Jan í08, bottle at the Midway airport: Much more impressive experience (for the style) than my first. Fully lace yielding head/appearance. Nicely hopped up earthy resinous presence, all supporting toffee, caramel, even nutty and slightly fruity base beer. Refreshing preparation for the flight home. Two thumbs up withinthe ESB family of beers! Bumping the numbers up a bit. Original rating: Snorefest here, as most bitters tend to put me to sleep. Pour was amber colored with an ok initial head, decent lacing. Aroma was fruity. Flavor was fruity with some balancing hops and rich matiness underneath. Couldnít make out the fruit flavors, almost seemed somewhat berry-like. Mouthfeel was fairly heavy for a bitter or ESB. An odd bitter aftertaste was left in the mouth. Beers like this require a tap pour to get a real sense of the work - a luxury which wasnít afforded me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A clean, but roundly hoppy ale. no question this is well balanced. This is a great gateway beer, as it is widely available in even the worst bars in Chicago.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice pale ale, one that I found to be quite similar to say, Sierra Nevada (although not quite as good). Hazy orange color with almost no head, it goes down easy but doesnít sacrifice the nice bitter taste. Bought at Stimmelís Market, Bowling Green, OH

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Pours a foggy copper body with a small creamy white head. The aroma is somewhat nutty with vague maltiness and generally lacking in substantive hop profile. Watery palate with some faint spicy hops and lots of bread. Not really what I’m going for when it comes to APA’s - I almost found this to be more of a Brown or something to that effect.
Purchased at World Market in Ann Arbor during the month of July in 2006.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Best when consumed by 120306. Pours a Clear copper orange with a small fading yellow white head. Aroma is of lightly citrusy, earthy, and spicy hops. Light caramel and biscuity malts. Flavor is more malty than hoppy, a bit thin on the palate. Moderate carbonation, no lacing. Listed as an APA and labeled as a bitter, I think this is more like a bitter myself--it just has the English taste to it. Not bad, but not Goose Islandís best, either.
