Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honkerís Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honkerís Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one youíll look forward to time and again.

This one is ok as a session type brew, but hops are a litte too subdued for a APA IMO. Decent brew, and worth a try nonetheless.Just donít expect 3 floyds alpha pale ale,or SNPA hoppiness.

Hazy amber with small head, fair lacing. Lots of hops, resiny, fruit with toffee in aroma with light yeast presence. Medium bodied with long bitter finish, tempered by pleasant maltiness.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2005 This pours a very nice brown with an orange hew with a fine white head that lasts and laces well. The nose is brown (if brown were a smell) and lightly hoppy. The mouthfeel is medium. The malts are very balanced with bittersweet hops, and the tastes are piney, orangish, and grassy. APAs are often overbearing and this one is not. It is a lesson in subtlety, though it could use some more flavor in the trailing end.

Pours amber with a small head. Light hop and average malt flavor. Slight citrus taste. Nothing special, but better than your average bar offering.

Orangish-amber with virtually no head to speak of, but fairly well carbonated. Sweet mandarin orange aroma. Sweet and citric at first gulp, with little power to back it up. Goes down far too easily.

Amber beer with a small, white head; very little lacing; lots of tiny sediment. Big, caramel/toffee malt aroma with some nice dark-frutiness. Flavor is nondescriptly sweet, except for a light butteriness and toffee flavor; slight soapiness too (?); very lightly hopped. Good mouthfeel for the style; finish is extremely short, though. Overall, I like this; this is a nice, simple APA that doesnít try to be pretentious; no overhopping, just a nice, all-around easy-drinking pale ale. I like it.

Dakre gold with amber in color and white head. Spicey hoppy aroma with a malt to hop taste and a nice bitter aftertaste. Definately hops and lemon in the flavor. Another quality brew.

5/20/04: Bottle.
Light, lemon-hopped nose with some malt and spice. Nice, full almond colored head. Brown-orange colored bodied with some lacing. Hops and malt to taste. Fairly balanced with a slight hop bite and a lasting bitter finish. Back in college this used to be one of my favorite beers.

ON TAP - Maybe the keg was old, but this was a big disappointment. Not very "hoppy" and certainly not very "English-Style", it tasted like a regular macro despite being marketed and priced like a premium.

Bottle from Safeway. Copper coloured, little head, slight lacing. Pretty good mouthfeel, average carbonation, nicely balanced between hops and malt. Not bad.
