Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honkerís Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honkerís Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one youíll look forward to time and again.

Bottle 04/10/2004 Golden coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy. Apricot and orange aroma and flavours. Some dryness and bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from Utobeer. Copper red colour with beige head and yeasty hop aroma. Quite good minerally malt, some caramel. Hoppy grapefruit/tangerine finish. Theyíve more or less done what they wanted, an English bitter (bit of boiled sweet) with green US hops

Pours mid-copper colored with a large, creamy, ecru head. Fruity aroma settles on orange citrus with a sweet, caramel background. Extremely well-balanced (especially if you prefer hops slightly more than malts). Mid-bodied (albeit a little "wet") with a touch of alcohol showing late. This has high availability in the Chicagoland area and I have tried it on many occasions... each time being reminded of the craftsmanship that G.I. employs to make such a sessionable brew.

On tap. Pours a golden orange with a small head. I have to say this is one of the beers I was "converted" to in the early 90ís, and always makes a good fall back beer when at a bar with less than desirable stuff. Not remarkable, just a well balanced pale ale.

This was a very interesting pale ale. It seemed as if it was almost spiced. The balance was a little strange, seemed too bitter. Being able to find it almost anywhere is always a plus.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2006 Nice fruity and "dry" aroma. Pours amber with a small amount of cloudiness, some lacing. Flavour is OK -- there is a sort of nice mellow nuttiness, some hops, some malt, but also some cardboard. Lingering aftertaste is unpleasant. A bit watery. Not great, but not entirely awful either.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2006 along with sierra nevada, often the saving grace of an otherwise god-awful bar in chicago (beer-wise). very hoppy generally, not so fruity but a good amount of bitterness. generally very drinkable, perhaps a high ABV session beer. i dont understand why the label calls it an "english bitter" when itís clearly a hoppy APA, but itís still a solid choice every time

Draft Wrigleyville: Copper pour, some lacing. Crisp clean flavor, some hops but nothing too pronounced. Very drinkable, itís a session beer.

Draught at Flying Saucer in Little Rock. Pours copper with a tall foamy off-white head and spotty lacing. Aroma is floral citrus hop, caramel medium roasted malt (meal) with trace yeast. Medium bitterness and acidic hop flavor, malt body, low sweetness and lasting flavor. Medium bodied and crisp, refreshing palate.

Crisp sharp bitterness. God mild taste combination of roasted malt, caramel, fruit remains beneath the hops, but blends well to create a good session beer with a refreshing and clean taste. Close to an IPA.
