Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.

Rather clear deep amber with a medium to small head. Delicious caramel and citrus hop aroma in nice harmony. Sweet caramel, some spiciness as in rye-bread , good balancing bitterness, leaving ta dry finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. An above-average, well-balanced pale ale.

Honey hazy color, thin head. Citrusy, floral aroma. Spicy bitterness balanced out with the malt. Leaf grassy finish and watery. Its a good taste that should have been amplified. Pretty good beer, but its not in the big leagues.

It had a cloudy orange color with a nice frothy head. It seemed fairly carbonated with nice lacing and a very balanced flavor.

Bottled. Slightly hazy amber pour with a medium sized beige, soapy head. Initial hoppy aromas are grassy with some clover and orange, but are well balanced by the subtle caramelized malts. The flavors are equally well-balanced on the tongue, which makes this highly drinkable but gives nothing a chance to shine. Texture is a bit sharp and biting with the carbonation, but it settles down and finishes with a clean, bitter ending.

Bottle. Poured a slightly cloudy rich amber with a nice off-white head that would leave a fair amount of lacing. The aroma was a nicely balanced malt and hops sensation, if a bit underpowered. A good easy flavor just barely sweet upfront with a light bitter finish that lingers gently. It is smooth with a barely perceptible tingle in the mouth. Overall it is a nice balanced beer, easy to drink, a great session beer.

Has a hazy amber color with a very thin white head. Faint hoppy aroma, but almost non-existant. Flavor is fairly pleasant, hoppy and a little spicy. Kind of a light body, but good carbonation. Overall, it’s OK, but nothing special.

Bottle from Utobeer. Copper red colour with beige head and yeasty hop aroma. Quite good minerally malt, some caramel. Hoppy grapefruit/tangerine finish. They’ve more or less done what they wanted, an English bitter (bit of boiled sweet) with green US hops

Pours mid-copper colored with a large, creamy, ecru head. Fruity aroma settles on orange citrus with a sweet, caramel background. Extremely well-balanced (especially if you prefer hops slightly more than malts). Mid-bodied (albeit a little "wet") with a touch of alcohol showing late. This has high availability in the Chicagoland area and I have tried it on many occasions... each time being reminded of the craftsmanship that G.I. employs to make such a sessionable brew.

On tap. Pours a golden orange with a small head. I have to say this is one of the beers I was "converted" to in the early 90’s, and always makes a good fall back beer when at a bar with less than desirable stuff. Not remarkable, just a well balanced pale ale.
