From the bottle. Nicely balanced ale--neither hops nor malt overwhelms the other.

This beer must have been nitrogenated. Light amber body with a nitrogenated looking cream head. Playful, light, fruity hoppiness in the nose with a creamy, fruity hopped body. A merger between an APA and a cream ale. Eh.

Good, malty APA. Needs more hop or different style? I think their malts keep this beer from being average. Needs stronger head--- they should import a yeast?

I donít really think ísmall batchí when I think Goose Island. This is the flagship beer, rightfully so probably. Kind of thin mouthfeel, fair head, light amber color, roasty malts that are set aside by floral hops. It tastes like it smells, for the most part. Appropriately carbonated. A great session beer. When itís truly fresh on tap, itís practically unbeatable.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Light-medium amber, little head. Nse has caramel, somewhat roast, some fruity hoppiness. Flavor is reasonably hoppy, but thatís about it; very little sweetness, and rather dry and lacking in malt. Fizzy on the end, but a decent long finish.

Much better on tap than in bottles, this is a bottle review. It just doesnít seem to have anything exciting going on. Certainly a very calm (boring) version of an ESB.

Mmmm, light and soapy with a metallic edge. Not a good beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fairly fast diminishing creamy head. A fairly hoppy aroma with a malty undertone. A copper, amber color. Very smooth drinking. Like the aroma the flavor is hoppy underscored by malt. A little bit of a smokey undertone as well.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
The aroma is slightly malty. Notes of toffee and caramel.
This crystal clear, deep amber beer has a small, white head. Mostly diminishing with excellent lacing.
The flavor is perfectly balanced with bursts of caramel and butterscotch.
Medium-length, dry finish with fresh cut fescue at the far end.

Good malt and hops cobination leaves this sweet, spicy and toasted. Well balanced for an American pale, in which the style tends to be over-hopped. Light citrus and yeast taste. Not exceptional, but a good brew.
