Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honkerís Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honkerís Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one youíll look forward to time and again.

Notes of swamp grass, dirt, pine, butter, and toast. Definitely some roasted malts in here. To be honest, Iím not very familiar with this style and donít have much of a reference point in terms of how this is "supposed" to taste. Itís not bad, though. I find it interesting enough. Not really a refreshing beer, and not really a hop or malt bomb. Iím getting a little bit of a taste that a Magic Hat beer in a spring mix pack a few years ago had. Thereís maybe just a hint of what youíd get in a Stock Ale, an Irish Red, or an ESB blended together. Also reminds me a tad of some of the Wild Goose (defunct mid-atlantic brewer) beers- similar hops or yeast strain, possibly. Low ABV for an American craft beer, but I think thatís characteristic of English-style bitters.

Tap. Poured deep amber with a thin but creamy off-white head. Bready malt aroma with an orange hint. Medium body with creaminess that ends on a tart dry note. Caramel malts with an earthy hop flavour, some sweet citrus throughout.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/3/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy copper amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange zest, herbal, grass, pepper, light pear/apple, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange zest, herbal, grass, pepper, light pear/apple, and toast/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy herbal/pepper bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange zest, herbal, grass, pepper, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of malt, hop, and light-moderate yeast flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbontion and light-medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a very nice English bitter style. All around good robustness and balance of malt, hop, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

pours clear bright golden orange with a small nice creamy off-white head, some retention and lacing. nutty and spicy caramel malts, pepper crackers, lemon tea, clean english yeast - although slighty dusty and metallic, grass, pepper, soft earthy notes, hint of honey sweetness. moderate carbonation, light body - not quite watery, relatively dry and bittering grassy-spicy-peppery finish. nicely done.

Bottle pour. Copper in color. Aroma of bitter hops and caramel. Low on flavor, but a drinkable beer overall. A little bready. Not bad.

Bottle 33 cl.
Pours light amber with small nicely lacing head. Quite hoppy, and light to medium malty aroma. Rather mild, well balanced and round bitter taste.

12oz bottle to tulip glass. Pours a very clear copper with a quick disappearing head. Taste is a bit weak for an ale but does go down ok

Deep amber color. Not to much aroma. Fast white dissapearing head. Definitely an English tasty beer. Bitter taste at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A caramel, malty British ale-esque treat with a modest amount of hops to balance. Doesn't set the world on fire but a fine representation of the style. Rated by BrewTom

Small taste of my Dadís mug at some chop house in Muscatine. A beer Iíve had several times before, still drinking pretty good after many years.
