3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Notes of swamp grass, dirt, pine, butter, and toast. Definitely some roasted malts in here. To be honest, Iím not very familiar with this style and donít have much of a reference point in terms of how this is "supposed" to taste. Itís not bad, though. I find it interesting enough. Not really a refreshing beer, and not really a hop or malt bomb. Iím getting a little bit of a taste that a Magic Hat beer in a spring mix pack a few years ago had. Thereís maybe just a hint of what youíd get in a Stock Ale, an Irish Red, or an ESB blended together. Also reminds me a tad of some of the Wild Goose (defunct mid-atlantic brewer) beers- similar hops or yeast strain, possibly. Low ABV for an American craft beer, but I think thatís characteristic of English-style bitters.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at an English pub in Monterey, CA. Light amber pour. In general, I like Goose Island beers. Unfortunately I found this beer to be lacking in flavor. All I could really taste was some light caramel flavored malt. The body was pretty light and the carbonation was crisp.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cold bottle at the Pitcher & Piano, Richmond. Short review, social. Dark amber, hazy, lightly sparkling, small white head. Aroma toffee, light marmite, batter. Body is medium, spritzy, slightly foamy. Taste is very buttery with some rosewater, tangy citrus. Pretty average. Looks quite good at least.

Growler bar sample. Nice head, decent aroma of wheat, hops, and spices. Flavourful and hoppy. Nice!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: Dark copper body with a fluffy white head. Good lacing. Great transparency.
Aroma: Spicy hop aroma that leaps from the glass.
Taste: I get a good deal of caramel and a bit of toast at the end. No bitterness that I can detect.
Palate: Again there is no real bitterness to cut back the sweet caramel flavor so it leaves a bit of sweetness on the mouth after drinking. Very watered down, but not bad...just not completely there.
Overall: It was a pretty good beer but it really didnít stand out to me. I would gladly drink it again but itís just not something I would rush out to buy. I recommend giving it a shot because it does have a good simple flavor profile. Itís like drinking iced tea. Itís better than water but it just feels like itís missing something.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Toffee, grass, hay and a hint of spices in the aroma. Amber with a white head. Medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter. Medium body with a soft to average carbonation. Overall a bit to sweet and very little hops in the flavour, not a good Bitter in my book.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber with off-white lacing foam head. Aroma is malty, little bitter, some wheat, some hay. Nice bitter ale, again some hay notes. (Velp 201409)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice, hops and malts balance well. I don't quite get the reference to English bitters, but maybe I should have let it warm a bit. Pretty harmless.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Goose Island outlet next to gate C10 at OíHare. It pours a clear amber gold with a light beige head of foam and great staying power. A fruity malt caramel aroma with a rough carbonation. The taste is malty caramel, a bit of cardboard and some toffee make it seem like a so-so English Ale though it did grow on me a bit.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy yellow amber with spongy off white head. Sticky lacing.
Watery palate and very little (for an IPA) bitterness comes through. Metallic after taste.
