COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.

English yeast character in the aroma. Some light caramel flavour and some american hops. Bitter finish.

This beer was very good it had some good up front notes of hops but not overpowering that the beer can not be enjoyed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Malty fresh, slight hoppy aroma. Mild toffee/carmel flavors. Dry, fruity finish. Medium bodied. Rather average beer. I have had this and the christmas ale and I dont feel anything special about these beers. Not bad, but could be more interesting.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2006 Rating this from memory after drinking several while in Chicago recently. Thought it a nice and decent APA with an alright amount of hoppiness and fruit flavours. Pretty standard, but when somebody plunks down a bottle of this and a bottle of Old Style on the table....well, the choice should be fairly obvious.

Bottle. Copper color with good white head and nice lacing on glass. Very nice aroma of malt, hops and biscuit. Flavor of biscuit, malt and a good bit of hop bitterness. Good mouthfeel. I thought this was an excellent beer. Loved the hoppiness.

Had from a bottle at McGrady’s Irish Pub in Charlottesville. Pours a rich dark orange/copper with an inch of slightly off white head. Aroma is some sweet caramel, a touch of grain and a bit of spice. Taste wise, mostly caramel to the exclusion of anything else, perhaps a trace of hop bite in the very beginning but otherwise pure sweet caramel. Medium bodied. Simply too sweet for an authentic English bitter, lacking the dry, clean crisp finish of something like Young’s Bitter. Inspired by English ales? Perhaps. Living up to them? Nope.

Poured a ruby red with a thick egg shell colored head. Aroma is caramel, spruce, citrus, bread, and floral. Taste is lemon, ginger, caramel, citrus, caramel, bread, and cereal. Overall not bad not great but easily drinkable.
