COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.

Low, white foam on top of a cobber red ale. Aroma of sour malt, some hop and some orange. Flavour of malt and sitrus, with a pleasant bitternes in the back. Medium body, okey lenght, everything is very balanced. Summary: A decent ale, but nothing special.

Pours reddish amber with great head. Nose has mild malts, some dark fruits, plum, cherries and grapes. Very light in body, with taste of juicy red grapes. A slight bitterness on the finish. Good beer.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2005 It seems Goose Island beers fall a little short, as compared to say, New Holland Brewing. Finishes with a grapefruit-like citrus hop flavor.

Unclear amber, small white head. Aroma is dry hoppy and sweet. Fruity and hoppy, mildly malty taste. Not bad if you are looking for something easily quaffable.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Produced a clear ale with an amber-orange body with no head (perhaps because of my pour and the cold temperature of the beer.) The aroma was a clean, crisp hops. First taste provided medium to heavy bitterness which lingered throughout the tasting. The overall body of the ale was clean, medium bodied with a bitter, metallic aftertaste which diminished quickly. The "rich malt middle" provided in the commercial description was not evident, though I have found that a pale ale’s malt notes develop as it reaches room temperature.

Pours a dark yellow with a thin white head. It has a sweet, toasty corn flake aroma with a hint of hops. The taste is of piney hops and a light, smooth, slightly sweet cereal finish. Not bad!

Pours light chestnut, brief white head. Faint malt aroma. Very light, approaching watery. Flavor is sweetish, light malt. A bit of fizz. Overall a good session beer. Pleasant but very light.
