Unusual smell, clean, some citrus, caramel malty/raisin. Not the best offering from goose Island.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Notes of swamp grass, dirt, pine, butter, and toast. Definitely some roasted malts in here. To be honest, Iím not very familiar with this style and donít have much of a reference point in terms of how this is "supposed" to taste. Itís not bad, though. I find it interesting enough. Not really a refreshing beer, and not really a hop or malt bomb. Iím getting a little bit of a taste that a Magic Hat beer in a spring mix pack a few years ago had. Thereís maybe just a hint of what youíd get in a Stock Ale, an Irish Red, or an ESB blended together. Also reminds me a tad of some of the Wild Goose (defunct mid-atlantic brewer) beers- similar hops or yeast strain, possibly. Low ABV for an American craft beer, but I think thatís characteristic of English-style bitters.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a nice golden amber color with a white head and medium lacing. Very little aroma, just a bit of an apple scent and a little malt. Flavor is sour more than bitter with a little aftertaste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Good, malty APA. Needs more hop or different style? I think their malts keep this beer from being average. Needs stronger head--- they should import a yeast?

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A copper appearance. Nothing distinctive about the aroma. A nice mixture of malt and hops with a floral finish. Very drinkable and affordable.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amber color with a little head that lasts several minutes. Not much aroma. Nice flavor. Mildly hoppy with a little malt. Slightly bitter aftertaste; just a hint of metal. Very good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours amber/light brown with a good, sticky, off-white head that leaves some good lacing. More American pale ale than english bitter, the nose is strong with nutty, toasty malt, and refreshing citrus and piney hops. Flavor not as powerful in the mouth, but smooth, refreshing and well balanced. An easy-drinking, refreshing pale ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a clear copper color into pint glass. Little to no lacing. Taste is predominantly carmel malts with hints of citrus and spice. Undernotes of overroasted malts are slightly out of character. Very crisp and clean. Not my favorite, but fine enough.

This breweryís other products set a tough standard to match. This one falls a little short. Clean finish, and moderate hops, but more mass-produced in character.
