UPDATED: AUG 26, 2012 I really liked this one. Golden orange colour with little head. Hoppy fruity (orange) aroma. The flavour is also orangey and very smooth a typical pale ale taste. Very pleasant and moreish. It appears this is right up some peopleís street but not others. Iím a fan though. Score 3.9

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle, 35.5cl) Hazy, orange amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Sweet cara-malty and slightly nutty aroma with fruity (citrus, grape-fruit) and slightly spicy hops. Sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Cara-malty, initially bready and subtle nutty taste with fruity aroma hops; almost dry, sweet-bitter but also a bit slim and short finish. Otherwise an aromatic and likeable Ale. 22.II.10

I canít believe Iíve never rated this before. The pour is a deep burnished copper colour with a thick off white headÖ pretty good looking really. Lovely nose with a soft fruitiness composed of cherry and a touch of berries. There is a bit of caramelly/bready character on the back. Soft and chewy with just a bit of herbal/spicy hoppiness. Fruity and lovely. Really, quite a surprise how much I like this.

12 ounce bottle from thetomG (Secret Santa Winter 10). Thanks! Pours a clear pale amber color with a medium sized frothy offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toasty malts, husky grains and a floral hop finish. The taste is bitter hops, bitter malts with some toastiness and a grainy finish. Medium bodied. Nice. Highly drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. Pours with a clear amber body and a fluffy, off-white head. Some light fruits, malts and light saw dust. Taste is fruity, malty, with honey and a bit of spiced tea. Very subdued, but a great session. Kind of thin, water like on the mouth with decent carbonation.

330 mL. Pours a clear light copper with a nice IPA-like fluffy white head with semi-good lacing. Aroma of an ESB with English malt, slight dry hops, faint caramel, light citrus, and biscuit. Biscuity flavor with a touch of citrus hops and caramel. Clean, bitter finish. Good session beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber with orange shine, cold haze; slight orange head, lacey. Nose yields caramel and colour malts, and fine hops. Malty underbuild with hoppy surroundings in the taste. Surprising for an American, this tastes very British. Including the mouthfeel and aftertaste, both rather empty - just the hopbitterness, and a little oiliness linger on. It starts off proudly American, then turns out to be prominent British, and finally fails to deliver both goods. Ay. Expected better from this much-vaunted ale. I don't know if it's for export, but my label states 5.0% ABV.
