COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.

JorisPPattyn (7796) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2003
Amber with orange shine, cold haze; slight orange head, lacey. Nose yields caramel and colour malts, and fine hops. Malty underbuild with hoppy surroundings in the taste. Surprising for an American, this tastes very British. Including the mouthfeel and aftertaste, both rather empty - just the hopbitterness, and a little oiliness linger on. It starts off proudly American, then turns out to be prominent British, and finally fails to deliver both goods. Ay. Expected better from this much-vaunted ale. I don't know if it's for export, but my label states 5.0% ABV.

355ml bottle, thanks to Finn H for sharing. Unclear, orange coloured body. Faint amount of off-white head. Malt-fruity aroma. Citrus and malts in flavour. Mild ending with dry bitter hops. Half way pleasing (Tromsø, 02.06.2011).

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear deep golden colour, large white head. Fruity nose. Malty with citrus hops and a touch of tropical fruit. Rather light-bodied and quaffable. Very nice!

Copper pour, with 2-finger, creamy white head. Aroma of malt, some honey, corn flakes, peanuts, bread. Very unique aroma. Tastes malty, with a big corn flake taste and some honey at the finish. Semi-dry palate. This beer is very unique, and very good.

Bottle from a friend that brought it home from the USA to Sweden.
Brown color. Scent and taste is well balanced by malt and hops. Nice enough bitterness.

This one was a little disappointing to me because it was not too heavy in the hops department. I don’t know if that is a regional thing (west coast APAs seem to have more bite) but this is still a well rounded and smooth offering from Goose Island.

2006-07-XX. Amber brown with a fingers worth of fluffy white head. Light sweet toasty malt aroma. Mild bitterness and toasty malt. Average palate. Nothing special but enjoyable. Bottle

355ml bottle, from Safeway. Clear gingery colour with an off white head, receding to a collar and thin covering. Very pronounced grapefruit aroma, with an underlying malt character that is dry and rather dull. More citrus, on the palate, with a distinct "hop juice" feel, leading into a tart, slightly tinny, aftertaste. Again, there’s something dry and a bit dull in the background. Sharp, but I wouldn’t call it zingy and the mouthfeel is on the thin side. Ended up a bit like chewing a lemon. I think this needs to be consumed really fresh. This wasn’t (the best before date was illegible).

Bottle. Fresh berry malt aroma. Medium amber color with small head. Lightly sweet malt flavor with light hops finish. An easy drinking beer - a bit light on the hops for the style but still very good.

Bottle picked up from Westholm, Londis, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon consumed this evening 17-05-08 Mid amber thin white head, some soapy hops. Refreshing beer, I agree with the commercial description this is quite english in style, reasonably well balanced bitter/sweet flavours, light fruitiness, just wish it had bit more panache.
