COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by visits to English country pubs, Honker’s Ale combines a fruity hop aroma with a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer. Immensely drinkable, Honker’s Ale is not only the beer you can trust but one you’ll look forward to time and again.

Nose smells similar to old English ales with a hops/ malt/ tea smell. Has a medium sized head and is very smooth with a balance of malt and hops with a hint of herbals (tea maybe) in the taste. Overall a very good beer.

Cold bottle at the Pitcher & Piano, Richmond. Short review, social. Dark amber, hazy, lightly sparkling, small white head. Aroma toffee, light marmite, batter. Body is medium, spritzy, slightly foamy. Taste is very buttery with some rosewater, tangy citrus. Pretty average. Looks quite good at least.

Growler bar sample. Nice head, decent aroma of wheat, hops, and spices. Flavourful and hoppy. Nice!

Appearance: Dark copper body with a fluffy white head. Good lacing. Great transparency. Aroma: Spicy hop aroma that leaps from the glass. Taste: I get a good deal of caramel and a bit of toast at the end. No bitterness that I can detect. Palate: Again there is no real bitterness to cut back the sweet caramel flavor so it leaves a bit of sweetness on the mouth after drinking. Very watered down, but not bad...just not completely there. Overall: It was a pretty good beer but it really didn’t stand out to me. I would gladly drink it again but it’s just not something I would rush out to buy. I recommend giving it a shot because it does have a good simple flavor profile. It’s like drinking iced tea. It’s better than water but it just feels like it’s missing something.

Toffee, grass, hay and a hint of spices in the aroma. Amber with a white head. Medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter. Medium body with a soft to average carbonation. Overall a bit to sweet and very little hops in the flavour, not a good Bitter in my book.

Clear amber with off-white lacing foam head. Aroma is malty, little bitter, some wheat, some hay. Nice bitter ale, again some hay notes. (Velp 201409)

Nice, hops and malts balance well. I don't quite get the reference to English bitters, but maybe I should have let it warm a bit. Pretty harmless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Goose Island outlet next to gate C10 at O’Hare. It pours a clear amber gold with a light beige head of foam and great staying power. A fruity malt caramel aroma with a rough carbonation. The taste is malty caramel, a bit of cardboard and some toffee make it seem like a so-so English Ale though it did grow on me a bit.

Cloudy yellow amber with spongy off white head. Sticky lacing. Watery palate and very little (for an IPA) bitterness comes through. Metallic after taste. $7.99/6pk at Publix

Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits. Sweetish, Brit malt nose, with caramel and treacle, some peach. Clear orange/amber color, 2-3cm head, and clumpy lace. Very mild malty initial, minerals, light fruit, and subtle bitterness in finish. Thin-medium body. Crisp and clean. Mild but tasty all around.

Transfer from BA review on 3-7-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a medium amber color with a one-half finger white head. The head fades fast to leave a persistent foam on the top of the brew with very light lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell –The aroma is very light overall and only consists of a very small amount of roasted malt and caramel. Taste – The taste begins with a good caramel malt backbone that creates a rather sweeter and breadier flavor. This taste lasts throughout the taste with very little change. Toward the middle of the taste a notes of toffee and a more buttery flavor comes to the tongue. These mix with a very light herbal and grassy hop flavor at the end of the taste which end up leaving a smooth and sweet flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer for an only 4.3 % abv beer is much creamier then would be anticipated while the carbonation level is rather average. The thicker body is nice for accentuating the toffee and buttery flavors of the brew while the average carbonation level keeps it refreshing and easy drinking. Nicely done for the flavors and style. Overall – While the flavor profile is not too complex, but instead rather simple, it is quite nice and with the lower alcohol level makes this brew an easy one to drink.
