3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
DATE TASTED: February 13, 2014... GLASSWARE: Kisatsky’s Tavern pint...OCCASION: snow day half done--part two of the storm, beginning now ... APPEARANCE: classic amber body with steady effervescence; beautiful snow white head that creates wonderful, patterned lacing... AROMA: butterscotch, hazelnut, and light yet fragrant hops are counterbalanced by the expected English bitter malts...PALATE: active, medium bodied yet easy-drinking, as the label advertises...TASTE: bitter indeed--slightly abrasive bite tempered by unmistakable ESB maltiness--drinkable and enjoyable, but not overtly winning... OVERALL: a strong representation of the style, with the proper strength, mouthfeel and flavor to elicit a sessionable night; a second quality offering from Goose Island, after the 312 Wheat...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle poured in mug, copper color, little white head, medium carbonation, taste aint as balanced as a ESB usually is, caramel malts and mild hops, silk and low-medium bitterness. wouldnt say is bad but is kind of average, besides, it would pass a pale ale.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a clear copper with big frothy head. Aroma is of toffee, biscuit, earth, and mild pine. Tastes of sweet, candy caramel, and mild piney hops. Can’t get past the sweetness, very weird. Has a medium body with average carbonation and the aftertaste reminds me of vegetables. A real letdown from Goose Island.

Une bitter qui se prend bien, peu amer, un petit goût de caramel, pas trop malté. Se boit aisément, mais n’a rien d’exceptionnel à offrir.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear copper topped by a bright white fizzy head, showing average retention and no lacing. Subtle carbonation with medium bubbles. Nose is malty, but grassy at the same time. Almost has a skunky feature. Some fruitiness as well. The same goes for the taste, but the malts are a bit more present and give a nice roasted cereal element. A bit aqueous, the finish brings back the resinous/grassy forth, with some faint bitterness. Nice roasted malts, but the hops are too skunky for me. Cheers!

Hold da op en gang humle. Efter min menind, så nærmer denne øl sig en IPA, den smager faktisk ikke af så meget andet, end den friske smag af humle, bitterhed og næsten helt tør i eftersmagen.

Reminds me so much of my session beer choices in England and I'm chuffed to find it here in the US. A great go-to ale!
