Golden brown. Diminishing head leaves a few spots of lace. Smells good--fruity, hoppy, floral. A bit watery on the palate though. Just a hint of malt sweetness with a bitter finish.

light malty nose, copper hue with a small white head, malty, some pineapple tones, oily texture, reasonable stuff

A fair bit of sweetness at the start, dried out a bit by some piney, fruity hops, ever so slghtly sticky, and some bitterness. Relatively clean and easy going.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2005 Aroma is light but balanced, with a general maltiness (nothing specific jumps out) and a slight pine needle hint to the hops. The appearance is very nice, a rich red-amber with a light white head. The flavor is just like the aroma, balanced but bland, with that pine-needley taste coming through again. The palate is fine, medium feel, medium carbonation. The problem is the same finish Goose Islandís IPA has - a nasty, bitter aftertaste that lasts for ages. Iím pretty sure itís their hops - this beer is just not as good as other regional craft brews.

Bottle from Safeway, Rubery, West Mids. Amber coloured ale with a petit, soft head. Sweet aroma - like an iced bun. Very fresh, grassy bitter, remarkably clean across the palate. Reasonably bitter, with some dryness in the finish. Refreshing stuff, that leaves a sparkle in the mouth, but not too complex.

Amber coloured. Good balance between hoppy bitterness and malty sweetness. Slightly fruity as well.

Malty fresh, slight hoppy aroma. Mild toffee/carmel flavors. Dry, fruity finish. Medium bodied. Rather average beer. I have had this and the christmas ale and I dont feel anything special about these beers. Not bad, but could be more interesting.

Orangish-amber with virtually no head to speak of, but fairly well carbonated. Sweet mandarin orange aroma. Sweet and citric at first gulp, with little power to back it up. Goes down far too easily.

Good Session Beer....Iím on number 6 right now....íhicupí Pours burnt orange colored with a nice head that fades quickly. Aroma is not offensive and not very strong. Tastes like most pale ales. Itís a staple that Chicago can be proud of!

Draft at Mother Hubbards. Went here a couple of times after work at midnight. I was glad they were open until 4am! Came out coppery amber. Nose is hoppy and lightly floral. Nose reminded me of a pale ale, but more towards American now that Iím seeing this as an English style. Taste is hoppy, floral, dry malts, and light nutty notes. Body is medium and has average carbonation. Finishes with more floral notes, soft citrusy hops and malts notes. Subtle spices as well. Not bad.
