jameswolfe (103), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 5, 2008 This a a decent ESB. It has a pleasant aroma and a dcent hop bite to it. It pours brown and doesnt have an overpwering aroma, but it is there nonetheless.
TKA300 (16), , Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2008 Nice goldish color with a white head. Tastes pretty malty with some nut and caramel flavor. Very drinkable. One of my favorites. ILoveNewBeer (90), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 9, 2008 Pours a copper color with a whitish head that goes away fairly quickly. Tastes of malt and some nutty flavorings. Malt to the nose as well.
I got this beer in a sampler pack and I think I’ll actually buy this one alone. jebert (53), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a tawny cooper color crowned by a whitish mostly dissapating head. Aroma is malt and nuts. Very creamy on the palate. Malt, nuts and barlley stoke the taste buds while the hops help this ale finish wiith dry satisfaction. Great with ham and cheese on sourdough. BMan1113VR (913), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Oct 5, 2008 On tap. Pours with a clear amber body and a fluffy, off-white head. Some light fruits, malts and light saw dust. Taste is fruity, malty, with honey and a bit of spiced tea. Very subdued, but a great session. Kind of thin, water like on the mouth with decent carbonation. cazort (373), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 (Bottle) I find the high reviews of this beer to be a bit puzzling: I was unimpressed. The hops are very weak, and not particularly interesting. Malt is generic. There’s nothing subtle or complex about this beer, and yet, it’s not terribly refreshing either--it comes across as just a tad heavy, without any real redeeming qualities. While it’s better than most macros, this beer just doesn’t have much going for it, in my opinion.
