holdenn (1161), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 30, 2008 On tap at Clybourn. Pours a hazed golden yellow with a white head. Caramel and pale malts in the nose with pine and spicy hops rounding out the sweetness. Light sweetness of caramel/pale malts with a floral and piney hop flavor. Bitterness is mild but lasting. Decent beer.
SQNfan (476), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Sep 8, 2008 Bottle from the Clybourn 20th Anniversary Collection. This poured deep golden to orange in color with a moderate fluffy head that faded rather quickly. The nose gave off hoppy aromas of citrus, herb, wheat and light caramel adding some sweetness. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with a wonderfully smooth midpalate with flavors of orange and orange rind added to the flavors from the nose. chicagodri (542), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle from the Clybourn 20th Anniversary Collection. Pours a clear gold/amber. Minimal white head. Didn’t really think of this as an American Pale ale...no hop flavor to speak of. Sweet caramel malt dominates the flavor. Smooth, but really nothing special. BeerBunker (103), Burbank, Illinois, USA Aug 2, 2008 Pours with a orangish brown color, and has a small white head. Earthy, fruit taste that is too similiar to that of skunky beer flavor. Nothing special, and not worth drinking again. pantanap (784), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 26, 2008 tap at GI clybourn.... medium apple cider brown pour with a white head that quickly diminishes.... caramel malt and grassy hops, somewhat toasty and buttery aroma.... sweet toasted caramel malt, and some hops and spice. more than adequate carbonation and mouthfeel. smooth and pretty drinkable. WickerBrew (279), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 7, 2008 This was only OK. It has some good pale flavor but i think those fuggle hops are not my thing. They always leave a syrupy oily feeling in my mouth. This beer is actually a little too thick for me.
