COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A caramel colored Belgium style strong ale fermented with two yeast strains for a dryer palate. This ale is dry hopped with Liberty Hops which makes it light in bitterness. A fruity charateristic produces an extremely enjoyable beer.

American Barleywine. Sediment due to 7 years of bottle conditioning. Yeasty, attenuated, but quite sweet. Pair with strong, fragrant cheeses.

After hearing about this several times from Mike and Alex I finally got it. Presented in a 12oz bottle with a blank white label that says Icarus at the bottom left. Looks ghetto fab, but I like it. The beer pours a transparent medium brown, with orangey light brown on the fringe. A little off white head that is gone right away...The aroma is very bready, toffee, and caramel. Its pretty sweet overall, not really balanced out with anything, but I like it. Smooth...The taste is a touch more balanced with lots of toffee, caramel, plums and vanilla. A slightly hoppy finish. Smooth again, so easy to drink.

Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to Mr Facto for sharing! Bottle from 2005! Hazy orange pour. Lots suspended floaters. Big yeasty aroma. Sweet malts with some fruity esters. slightly dry metallic finish

Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to Facto for sharing! A handbottle that is from 2005, I think. Very gloudy orange pour, the yeast swirling visibly even as it comes through in the nose as well. Fruity malts seem to dominate this one, with most of its complexities seeming to have been washed out with the hops. Glad to try it but a bit murky at this point.

Hazy amber. Rich malty nose with alcohol, light peach, and some phenols. Soft caramel, with an earthy character. Has a gentle fruitiness and finishes with an alcoholic splash that melds with the caramel.

2005 handbottle thanks to Drnk_McDermott. Pours a cloudy copper with a medium white head and a good bit of sludge in the bottom. The aroma is a malty and fruity mix, some caramel and toffee also. The taste has really held up well; a nice smooth malt body full of dry fruit and metallic aspects. Quite nice, I’d like to have it fresh to compare.

Bottle shared from Doug. we were both kinda’ wondering what in the dickens this style was going to be. We were sure maybe an ASA or BW. Makes sense as there were some difined fruit and toffee notes. I was thinking a watered done rootbeer or coke as an undertone. Thanks Doug.

Bottle... MBSBF’08 ... Murky amber ale. Barley wine-like aroma... notes of white pepper, caramel and brown sugar. Full-bodied and chewy with modest carbonation. Caramel-praline hybrid sweetness in both the flavor and finish. Thanks go out to Beershine for sharing the bottle!

Bottle, special procuement. Cloudy-plus, thick looking. Brown sugar. Sugar can syrup with minerals. Corn syrup. Gritty mouthfeel and thins in the finish. Overall, interesting.

Courtesy of Oakes and Beershine. Pours a copper amber color with a small white head. Smells of some musty malts, clay, light candy sugar, and bready yeast aromas. The flavor is a bit bitter and malty. Some caramel malt is really evident along with a touch of some citrus. Maybe a touch too bitter in the finish, didnt leave a great aftertaste on the palate. Still was an interesting brew and glad I got to try it.

12 oz bottle thanks to drewbeerme for this sample. 2005 vintage. Pours a hazy amber with a white head. Nose is oxidized in every way possible. Cooked vegetables, aged caramel, old fruit, cheese, with some wheat and fruit that show themselves after this warms up. The flavor is much better. Though some of those vegetable notes are apparent, the caramelized malt, brown sugar, yeast, and plums are quite tasty with a smooth body. Decent overall, but hopefully I can try a fresh one, one day.
