mcbackus (725), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Mar 11, 2008 bottle: pours a clean and clear orange colour with little to no head. aroam si a very earthy piney hops with a good amount of malt behind the hops. the flavour is very pleasing mix of hops and malt. the hops actually seem to be playing second stage to the malt in this. good caramel malt with a great blalnce of piney hops. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Mar 9, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mostly malt with the hops hidden to my nose. The hops explode in the flavor though with more piney than citrus notes. dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Mar 6, 2008 pours dark amber, slight off-white head, slight lacing. good whiff of grapefruit and evergreen. sweet tea started in the flavor, followed by grapefruit, with a bitter finish. there was not much carbonation, but maybe my bottle was a bit old. full-bodied and rich. not bad, but not great. i can easily drink more than one of these, however. brewandbbq (269), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Mar 5, 2008 Best before March 31, 2007.
Pours hazy orange-gold, with a thick, dense, batter-like head of off white. The half inch foam cap receded within three minutes and revealed an abundance of drizzled lacework. Threads of whitish bubbles streak down from ringwork near the peak.
Aromatics are loaded with tropical fruits, zesty citrus, and coniferous resin. Powdered sugar-laced apricots, mango, and tangerine under a spruce tree after a spring rain. Light malt adds some balance, while the nose is floral, slightly pungent, and enticing.
Mouthfeel is sticky, sappy, and snappy.
The pallet is chock full of more ripe fruits and spruce tips. Peaches, sugared grapefruit segments, dried pineapple, and clementines. Bitterness is firm and drying, balancing the residuals well without being wincing. Alcohol weaves through the fruit and light malt, lending a warmth that adds another level of complexity.
Finishes extremely fruity and warming, with the residuals winning out over the bitterness.
The aromatics seem a bit subdued, and I’m assuming that it’s not the freshest example. A bit drier and fresher would knock this baby to the next level.
Big thanks to Unknownoffender for the oportunity.
GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Mar 2, 2008 Bottle, nice light amber color, big white frosty head and good lacing. Smell of sweet hops. Taste is a perfect blend of all 3 hops and malt. You cant taste the 9 percent at all. Really smooth and easy to drink. Not to light, not to heavy. Goose Island hit the nail on the head with this one. Well done. Great beer! Thanks josh and tyler for this one! jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Mar 2, 2008 12oz bottle, 2007, courtesy of BMartin08 (Thanks!) this is another great IIPA, tons of hop aroma and even more hop taste, this has the Bright hop profile and definitely has loads of simcoe in it, No cat piss detected...No alcohol noticed either... Very nice /Borat abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA Feb 26, 2008 Thanks inkubus27! Pours a hazy orange color with white head. Smell is interesting, kind of bready and fruity. Taste is decent, finished very dry and alcohol is not very well hidden. A pretty good brew. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Feb 25, 2008 Bottle: Muddy orange in color with a creamy, sandy head. Thick lacing. Scents of malty sweetness, bready, and some dark fruitiness. Graham crackers? Tastes sweet and citrusy. Dry florals and caramel malt show up soon. The crisp florals are backed nicely by this softening bready and caramel maltiness. Nice. Thanks Hopdog!
