I liked this IIPA. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Feb 22, 2008 12 oz bottle thanks to xmarcnolanx. Pours a clear orange with an average size bubly off white head with some visible carbonation clinging to the side. Aroma of piney hops, sweet malty undertones and a slight bit of breadiness. Full syrupy body with a very dry alcoholic finish. Flavor of bread, alcohol, pine needles and card board. A nice effort but this is DFH 120s little brother, a strong beer but no where near what it could be. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Feb 22, 2008 12 oz bottle. Hazy golden orange with decent head. The aromas were very sweet citrus. Candy sugar and some hints of vanilla. Flavor was similar with some sweet on the front and a citrus hoppiness that quickly turned to a decent bitter finish. A pretty tasty DIPA. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Feb 22, 2008 Updated: Mar 1, 2008Courtesy of fordest. 12 oz bottle shared with fordest and padrefan. Poured a copper-gold color with a small off-while head that lasted only a short while. The aroma was big on pine with just a hint of sweet citrus. The flavor was very hops forward with biter cascade hops dominating, the sweetness hinted at in the aroma never really showed up, this IPA was straightforward with pine and cedar and a bit of grass. The mouthfeel was medium-full and appropriate for the style. The finish was long and biter. Overall: In a night of tasting that featured IPA’s this was a standout. Highly Recommended. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA Feb 21, 2008 12 oz bottle pours a hazy orange with an inch of off white head. Aroma of citrusy hops, and ripe fruits. Flavor is sweet malt up front with a medium hop bitterness at the end. Not as good as previous vintages IMHO. Not as well balanced as other years. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Feb 21, 2008 12 oz. bottle generously given to me by Gregis. 2007 vintage, best before 041208. Pour is clear cheddar cheese [TM] orange, with a big fluffy orangish white head. Beautiful aromas of citrus fruit - very soft and floral. In the background, can also find some grassiness and bitterness. Taste is a reflection of the nose, sweet orange citrus, some grassiness in the middle and a clean hop bitter finish. After taste has a touch of lingering heat, which was the only indication of the size of this one. The sweetness became a bit cloying as I continued to drink this one. Very nice, though the taste didn’t quite live up to the aroma for me. Good solid IIPA, thanks for giving me this one Greg. scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Feb 19, 2008 Updated: Apr 9, 2008This is a very impressive beer. Pours a Golden, amber color with a pillowy white head that sparkles nicely. Smell is really a step above many other IIPA’s that simply consist of a sharp hops smell. This beer has a more sweet, orange citrus aroma that is really nice. Don’t get me wrong, hops is still present but not as much as you would fine in some IIPA’s. The taste is also very interesting it is much sweeter than I expected it to be. The taste is reminiscent of a slightly sour orange, hops still makes a very strong appearance but not overpowerfully like some Imperial’s. Probably the best IIPA I have had thus far. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 18, 2008 Updated: May 22, 2008[Rerate] Really a beautiful pour for an IPA. Golden/red with a few big bubbles and a silky smooth white head. One of the best aromas of any beer I’ve ever had, strong hops, pine, melons, peach, citrus, and honey. Sugary malt forward, very sweet and fruity. Candied malt with a fruity yeast character. Some grapefruit and lots of honey. Long lasting bitterness. Fuller body and crisp carbonation are very fitting and makes for an easy to drink in-your-face brew(4.5/5). 9.2% is dangerous when its this tasty.
