cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Sep 22, 2006 Updated: Nov 1, 200612 oz bottle via trade with goldtwins - Pours an amber color with a nice size off white head. Has a nice floral, citrus, and resiny hop aroma. Flavor is mostly hops with just a little malt back up. Medium body. A very nice DIPA. Thanks Larry. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Sep 9, 2006 Pours lightly hazy amber with an off-white head that has nice retension. Aroma has huge grapefruit / citrus hops. It is almost light putting a spoon into a fresh grapefruit. There is some malt to back things up - aroma is wonderful. Full bodied with a lot of soft carbonation. Taste starts off with a mix of floral and citrus hops with bits of grassiness. There is some malt for balance. Finish however has no balance - all hops. This turns into a grapefruit citrus bomb. This is an excellent IIPA. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 2, 2006 Updated: Nov 17, 2006Bottle. Orange color with a thin white head. Aroma = citrus. Tons of hops, marmalade, and an awesome tart grassiness followed by a bit of alcohol. Decent flavor, pleasantly bitter and sweet tasting, following the aroma profile well. Nice mouthfeel, refreshing and clean despite the bitterness and ABV. Very nice, balanced in the right ways. Rerate, I bumped this up a bit on the palate and the flavor, I really like this beer. Really smooth and really nice. Aubrey (2773), Denver, Colorado, USA Aug 29, 2006 Light golden hue. Smooth, weighty body with nice and prickly carbonation. Fruity, sugary and juicy up front. Hops were zingy, bold, vibrant, flowery and tasty. Nice amount of bitterness to boot. Complex hop aromas followed through into the aftertaste. Nice stuff. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Aug 19, 2006 Very solid IPA. The pour is a hazy amber with a good head which fades quickly. The aroma is all citrus hops (gotta love that simcoe smell). Taste was solid with a nice grapefruit flavor, good malt backup, but also a little bit of some floral tastes which didn’t seem to match up quite right. Easy to drink and refreshing. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2006 Had this at the Rose & Raindrop IIPA tasting, Portland. Medium bodied, amber color. Skunky aroma, same finish. not much to this IIPA. more malt, more hops, no uniqueness. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2006 Huge aroma....citrus and malts mingling quite nicely. A bit of a soapy hop taste. But, tons of grapefruit also. Good stuff. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2006 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot, grapefruit), with a note of peach.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Pleasant, but nothing particular special to my senses.
