WisconsinBeer (514), St Paul, Minnesota, USA Apr 12, 2006 Dry hop and pine flavors. I am not detecting alot of citrus hops. Plenty of toasted malt at the back end that gives the beer the impression of being dry. Medium bodied. Alcohol is well hidden. Seems like a pretty solid beer. Beware: This beer goes down exceptionally smoothly and it is easy to drink the whole 4 pack in one session! HopDevil1979 (117), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 3, 2006 I couldn’t smell the hops from a "yard away" but they were there with a deep whiff. Smells of grapefruit. Pours slightly hazy with no head at all. Medium amber. Feels like a thick stout when I take a gulp. Tastes like alchohol, hard candy and pine cones. The aftertaste reminds me of eating a burnt english muffin, but I’m not that annoyed by it. A well worked beer! Firemoose15 (540), Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2006 Bottle. Huge hop aroma, pine and citrus. Poured a hazen orange with a light cap on it. Flavor was just damn yummy a great combination of sweet malts swirling together with the bombardment of its hops. Palate was full and creamy finishing very crisply with a lightly bitter tail. Overall I really like this one. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 25, 2006 Deep orange pour with what appears to be a fairly strong chill haze to it...this bottle is a few months old. Strong initial aroma of overpowering PNW style hops. I’m ready for this, believe me. Strong sweet malt bottom with caramel and toffee predominating. On top of that floats a very strong PNW-type hop bittering with the expected citrus and pine highlights. I think I’m detecting some flavor seperation (from age) and also some mellowing of the hop hit. I will rerate if/when I can get this fresh. daalamar (403), bardstown, Kentucky, USA Mar 24, 2006 Orange coloration and slightly cloudy. Medium lasting head that laces beautifully. Giantic hop aroma of grapefruit, lime and pine. Flavor is quickly sweet with rapefruity hop flavors coming in before you get the chance to think about it. There is som malt back there, its detectible more in the mouthfeel than in flavor. Finish is lasting and moderatly bitter. Beautiful IIPA. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 22, 2006 Another great beer provided generiously by Philip! Thanks buddy! Orange body with a thick and creamy white cap. Orange peels, bread crust, lots of other citrus, and good milt in the nose. Sweet breadyness shows up in the mouth, and is kicked out by a blast of orangey hops bitterness. BAM! Sehr Gut! Good acidity too. Awesome hops finish, nice lingering bread and hops. This is dangerously drinkable. Yes indeed, goose island baby! Thanks Phil! mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 21, 2006 bottle. thanks for sharing this treat, Len. This is just what the doctor prescribed - a hop infusion! pours an orange body with a rather small whitish head. beautiful resiny grapefruit-orange hops, yeast, and peachy fruitiness. wonderfully hoppy flavour though it maintains solid balance especially covering up the alcohol with bready crystal malts. the drinkability is superb. Silphium (2114), Haslett, Michigan, USA Mar 21, 2006 Bottle from jimbowood. Amber-orange body, thin/medium off-white head. Big piney, biscuity aroma with abundant citrus (grapefruit) rind. Rindy body, citric and bitter, with pine needles completing the hops contribution. Big, biscuity, caramely hops. Rich and potent, but doesn’t break any new ground. That’s not a flaw, however.
