Commercial Description:
Traditionally, there are a lot of rules when it comes to brewing great beer. The fact that American craft brewers have broken those rules to produce some of the world’s finest beers is downright heroic. At Goose Island we live and die by hops, so breaking the rules meant pushing the hop limit to the extreme to create this monster Imperial IPA. We took three of our favorite hops, TETTNANG, SIMCOE, and CASCADE, and balanced their spiciness with tons of malt. Them we went back and dumped in MORE HOPS and more malt until this beer was exploding with flavor...strong enough to wake the dead and filled with more bitterness than a woman scorned. This Imperial IPA is absolutely gigantic, you’ll smell the hops from about a yard away. What will surprise you is how incredibly drinkable it is. Pair it up with the saltiest blue cheese you can find, and go nuts.

Bottle. Light gold with just the perfect citrus aroma I love in my IIPA, with tons of lacing. Mouth puckering hop tartness, citrussy tangerine zest along with the perfect dryness that makes it all worthwhile. Fuck balance, taste is where it’s at and this stuff is freakin awesome.

12oz bottle obtained in a trade from Illinismitty! Thanks Sean! Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a very, very small head and just a tiny bit of lacing. Aroma is fruity and hoppy- very nice on the nose. Flavor is slightly dry and very hoppy. Hints of citrus and pine come through just a little bit at the end. I loved this IIPA! Thanks again Sean!!

One fantastic brew. Certainly good enough to warrant an Imperial IPA label. Citrus, pine, power, flavor. It has it all. I really like what Goose Island is doing. They have made a line of beers worthy of the 4-pack. This Imperial rates right up there with Ruination and Hercules.

Bottle. Smells like grapefruit sprinkled with piney hops, very strong in your face aroma. Orange, Copper in color with a white head. Tastes like grapefruit and hints of malt. Medium bodied with a bubbly hoppy start and a nice dry hop finish. This is a really good beer. Thanks tjthresh for this one.

Pours an orange copperish color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is very hoppy with hints of fresh pine needles and grapefruity orange citrus. Flavor is very hoppy as well with hints of grapefruit and pine. Excellent Double IPA !!

Bottle. Amber body, big frothy white head. Aroma has alcoholic hops, mild grapefruit. Flavour is hop dominant, with moderate grapefruity hops throughout. Hops increase as the glass goes on. Creamy underlying toffee/caramel deep below makes pleasant appearances. Alcohol is pervasive but mild for the abv. Dangerously drinkable. Doesn’t have the hoppy oomph I expected but it is quite nice. Thanks for the bottle 1FastSTI.
