jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 5, 2006 Bottle. Amber body, big frothy white head. Aroma has alcoholic hops, mild grapefruit. Flavour is hop dominant, with moderate grapefruity hops throughout. Hops increase as the glass goes on. Creamy underlying toffee/caramel deep below makes pleasant appearances. Alcohol is pervasive but mild for the abv. Dangerously drinkable. Doesn’t have the hoppy oomph I expected but it is quite nice. Thanks for the bottle 1FastSTI. Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Feb 5, 2006 Nice hop aroma with a bit of malty sweetness. Some citrus as well. ABV not in yer face. Decently hoppy with a great pine like and hint of citrus finish. Wish it were a bit cheaper. clingman71 (239), Centerville, Ohio, USA Feb 5, 2006 Bottle. This is one fabulous IPA2. It pours amazingly clear, somewhat light in color, and exploding with hop aroma. This is a hard style to grab attention in, many many excellent examples out there to compete with and be noticed. Goose Island has nailed it. It might be the most balanced and drinkable IPA2 available in my area. It is dry, but with enough malt to not be too dry, has hop aroma like an IPA vs. an IPA2, and most of all very good hop flavor, while being balanced and easily drinkable in every way. I tried an Imperial at Goose Island about two years ago,not sure if this is the same recipe or not, I don’t remember it being this good. A HOP LOVER’S DELIGHT! jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Feb 3, 2006 Bottle courtesy of dough77. Now this is a good, quality, really drinkable IIPA. Could stand to be a little fresher, but man I don’t think it could be much better. LtJudge (431), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Feb 2, 2006 Pours a cloudy dark yellow.Wonderful hop aroma billowing off this bad boy!Wonderful flavor(just a hint of big alcohol, but not bad)With a great smooth finish.Great job Goose Island! WabashMan (798), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Feb 1, 2006 Really one of the best offerings from Goose Island I’ve ever had. I always appreciate their consistancy and ability to continually produce good beers, but this was above and beyond what I expected. Very hoppy, with lots of background flavors. Keep it up, GI! Philip (436), Illinois, USA Feb 1, 2006 Bottle purchased at Picadilly, Champaign. $4.50. There’s a decided note of apricot and mango on the nose, although not as strong as Dreadnaught. A good piney and citrusy hop scent leads into the palate. The hops bite hits one immediately, but there’s a pretty solid malt backbone to it that holds everything together. A great finish. I found this tasty, not necessarily overwhelming. If I’m drinking IIPAs in this price range, I’m drinking Dreadnaught. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Jan 31, 2006 Thanks to Dickinsonbeer for sharing this at the January gathering. Poured a cloudy amber with an off-white head. Huge massive pine and grapefruit aroma. Taste follows completely... massive grapefruit and pine hops, some alcohol dryness, long bitter finish. Balance, no. Hops, plenty of ’em.
