thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jan 14, 2006 Pour is a very hazy orange with no head at all. Aroma is big hops and tons of citrus fruits. Lots of grapefruit and pine. Very clean smelling and worth it just alone for the aroma. Thre flavor actually made me say wow after I took a sip. HUGE hops with enough malts in there to make an appearence after you get past the hops. Aftertaste is more hops with a bit of honeydew. Hop head heaven. Very outstanding and well recommended. IIPA does not get any better than this. The only problem with the brew is the price. I paid $4.50 for a 12oz. bottle and the 4 pack it came in cost $17. Buy a single when you have the bread and you will not be wasting money. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA Jan 14, 2006 On tap at the Spuyten Duyvil. Clear orange/amber color with a medium sized white head. Really nice hop aroma
(orange, grapefruit, some pine) with some sweet malt in the background. Big, fruity hop flavor that was surprisingly fairly well balanced by a good amount of sweet malt. Finishes somewhat dry, with the alcohol barely noticeable. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Jan 13, 2006 Thanks to CaptainCougar for retiring this from my wants list!
A deep golden colored body that supports a sticky off-white head.
Huge nose of grapefruit and sweet juicy malt in the back.
Starts sweet and juicy with a powerful bitterness that builds at the end and lasts forever on the tongue. The body remains light, making this a dangerously refreshing beer for it’s alcohol content. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA Jan 12, 2006 Color is a very clear orange with a creamy white head and decent activity. The aroma is of strong hops. Grapefruit and pine definately. I’m searching for malt in the aroma but barely get any. What there is has a biscut smell, but I won’t hold this too much against them because the hops are what this beer appears to be about. There is a great hop flavor in this beer. Grapefruit and citrus and some plesant active sweetness, quickly followed by sharply sticky hop bitterness at the back. A tiny bit of sweet malt isn’t able to provide much ballance in this hop-sided beer. Has a real nice strong, yet clean, bitterness and a tea flavor on at the finish. Thanks to jdanaptown for this. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jan 10, 2006 Bottle (11/03/05): Courtesy of Styles. Huge hop aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, and slight hints of pine. Pours a bright transparent orange with an white with orange tint head that lasts a minute or so. Very nice lacing. Sweet apricot, pineapple, and orange up front. Huge grapefruit hop finish and slight hints of pine which really balances well with all the sweetness up front. GI, get this and the BC Stout in MI!!!! Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 8, 2006 Pour is hazed orangey amber with a thin white head...smell is pine and soap with some grapefruit notes too...taste is sweet and almost overly malty front end folled by a nice resin bitterness...alcohol well hidden... BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jan 7, 2006 12-oz. bottle, bottled 11/03/2005. Pours a hazy burnt orange with a small frothy off-white and bubbly head, slowly diminishes to an edgy head and lined, spotty lacing. Extremely fragrant floral citrus hop that you can almost smell without opening the bottle, perfumey and sugary, pine and resinous nose, grapefruit notes and as it warms the alcohol becomes apparent. Heavily bitter, moderately acidic pine and citrus rind hop flavor that quickly eases off your palate as the malt (meal) takes over; alcohol and malt are more distinct as the beer warms. Medium to full bodied, spicy and slightly dry palate except for the bitterness kicking in your saliva glands. Tmoney99 (4661), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 6, 2006 Bottle. Poured a deep amber with an average white head that was lasting and had good lacing. Good hoppy citurs aroma. Medium body. Complex hoppy citrus flavor with a good long bitter finish. Very good brew.
