COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Traditionally, there are a lot of rules when it comes to brewing great beer. The fact that American craft brewers have broken those rules to produce some of the world’s finest beers is downright heroic. At Goose Island we live and die by hops, so breaking the rules meant pushing the hop limit to the extreme to create this monster Imperial IPA. We took three of our favorite hops, TETTNANG, SIMCOE, and CASCADE, and balanced their spiciness with tons of malt. Them we went back and dumped in MORE HOPS and more malt until this beer was exploding with flavor...strong enough to wake the dead and filled with more bitterness than a woman scorned. This Imperial IPA is absolutely gigantic, you’ll smell the hops from about a yard away. What will surprise you is how incredibly drinkable it is. Pair it up with the saltiest blue cheese you can find, and go nuts.

An unclear orange beer with an orange disappearing head. The aroma is flowery and hoppy with notes of oil, peach, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy and with a good bitter, hoppy, and dry end. A lovely IPA.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Vintage 2006 at 9.0% ABV. Clear, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Very fresh aroma of pine needles. Full, sweetish body with lots of caramel and wonderful flavours of pines and citrus - almost soapy perfumy, but never unpleasant and sticky as it manages to retain quite some freshness. The bitterness is not overwhelming and only seems to awake rather late on the palate. Yummy. 191206

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2007 <i<Bottled. Cloudy golden, brief head. Generous aroma of lychee and kumquat. Sweet amd perfumy with rounded mouthfeel. Lots of sweet malt to back up all the fresh, aromatic hops. Long bitter finish. Superb kumquat-like hop flavour that I absolutely love.

Hazy red-amber color; creamy head. Strong aroma, extremely malty in the beginning, balanced then by the wonderful hops, fruity; a touch of vanilla too, and pine needles. Good body structure, without being thick; malty flavor turning into toffee, enough sugars; well balanced by the powerful and aromatic hopping; light hop fruitness and some hop oils. Not being too sweet, it’s also not cloying. Wonderful.

Cloudy vibrant amber colour. Big fresh grassy, citrusy, slightly woody hop nose. Well-rounded flavours, lots of fruity, citrusy hops and clean pale malts. Certainly not one to blow minds, but very well-made and of universal appeal.
