Cask at Night of the Living Ales. Wow, this is some really impressive stuff and one of my favorites of the night. It is the Bourbon County Pre-Barrel...I love the Bourbon County, but I think I like this just as much, maybe more. Pours black. Smell is mostly chocolate and raisins. Flavor is dark chocolate, coffee, and just a little chicory. Thick bodied beer, but man does it go down easy. Wish I could get this again somewhere...amazing.

This had a thick black body with a scattering of tan bubbles for a head. It smelled of dark chocolate, roasted malt and barley, dark dried fruits, and smoke. It was pretty smooth but left a charred wood bitterness on the tongue. The flavor sees the addition of roasted coffee and an earthiness that I could have done without. It finished on a note of roasted bitterness and burnt oak. Not too shabby.

On cask at Night of the Living Ales IV. Wow everyone agrees on this score. I couldn’t stop drinking this one. The best beer in the place. Fulton guys, please bottle this. Or at least brew more of these pre-barrel BCS beers. This stout base is just amazing and the more subtle notes of the chicory really let this beauty shine. I love the BCS, but the bourbon hides some of the rich flavors in this glorious beer.

Pours a dark black with a bubbled head. Complex nose. Plums, dried fruit, chocolate, smoke, earthy, and woody. Smooth, creamy, and full bodied. Dark chocolate that is so rich with plums, coffee, and an earthy wood note in the finish. I can’t stop thinking about this beer, amazing.

cask at night of the living ales. had probably 3 pours of this because it was so good. didn’t really notice the chicory wood and obviously didnt have much bourbon character. a pretty solid imperial stout, muchb etter than last year’s dark lord on cask. alcohol was really well hidden, it was like drinking espresso. huge bodied.

on cask at Night of the Living Ales IV, I’m not sure why I waited so long to try this but I’m glad I did it with lot of time left to enjoy many samples. actually, when I first tried it I had 3 samples in a row. pours black with very small tan head. nose is loaded with dark chocolate, some raisins, caramel, and hints of chicory wood. flavor is really dark chocolately, espresso, while it finishes with an amazing mellow chicory finish. a thick body and extremely easy to drink. alcohol is very well hidden. logging this beer in gets me drooling. this is more drinkable than BCS and possibly better.
