3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Years ago when this was a seasonal at the brewpub I loved this stuff. As more and more flavorful hop beers have come along and my insatiable appetite for hops moderated to an almost reasonable level I have grown less fond of this beer. It is still one that I enjoy when Iím jonesiní for hops. You can smell it coming from across the bar. It also has a nice IPA color and appropriate head. Lovely on hand pump. For the most part I find that it is way out of malt/hop balance. Sometimes itís just the perfect thing, lots of time itís not.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle, Best when consumed by 050107. Pours a slightly hazy honey orange with a one finger eggshell head. Aroma of perfumey floral and grapefruity hops, some caramel and biscuity malts--leaning more towards biscuity. Flavor comes across as perfumey hops, a bit of grass, and a nice biscuity backbone. Bitterness never gets beyond moderate. Semidry mildly bitter finish. Moderate carbonation, light to medium bodied. Was surprised I hadnít rated this long ago.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice sweet hoppy aroma. Pours golden yellow with a small white head that disappears quickly. No noticeable carbonation. Medium sweet hop induced frutyness. Little froth, almost flat mouth feel. Flavor stays with you all way to the bottom of the glass. This is a full flavor beer that is not overpowering. For my money, and I didnít pay much, This is a decent ale.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Big jump to go from 4 straight traditional scottish ales, with no hops, to this. Got that great aroma, not too bitter with some nice hops throughout. Pretty good stuff.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2007 Very much a mediocre IPA. Some mild flavor of hops, grapefruit, malt, and yeast but neither well blended nor well balanced. Finish tastes like cardboard.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Clear amber to light copper with a craggy white head. Striped lacing. Grapefruit and some floral hop aromas. Biscuity to light caramely malt body infused with grapefruit zest hoppiness. Finishes very clean and dry for the style, with just the mildest hoppy/bitter aftertaste. Subtle carbonation. Relatively modest ABV for the style and overall drinkability may alllow this to be considered a "session IPA." I can imagine this being the ideal pizza beer.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A great IPA from Chicago. This is the first Goose Island brew Iíve had and if the rest are anything like this they will be on top of my list of brewers! The pour was a hazy orange with a thin white head. The taste was all malt offsetted by a great hoppy bitter aftertaste. Gooses honk and I would honk for another bottle of this! World class!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Dark yellow, with a medium off-white head. From the aroma, this beer is pretty heavily hopped. Mostly a pine smell. Light and resinous, with a slight bit of malt. Despite the light body, the finish is a bit sour.
